........."If you believe that freedom is at the core of what it means to be human, then theWarmists and what they stand for are instinctively repulsive to you. On the other hand, if you believe that human society must be organized into a moral collective for the betterment of all, then theWarmist idea provides a wake up call compelling us to form into ranks and goose step in recycled rubber boots into the green future.
Its an exaggeration, but thats what debates over the proper role of man tend to become. We dont fight wars over temperature gradients. The passions on both sides are motivated by much larger issues. This isnt science, its the continuing battle over industrialization, the modern society and the rights of the individual dressed up in the garb of theory. And just as a debate over the IQs of minorities will never be a dispassionate inquiry, neither will a debate over whether the world would be better off if we never existedwhich is the theme of the environmentalist movement.
The place of man in the university not a question that science can answer, but like so many other controversial issues in the past, it can be aided by manufacturing a scientific consensus that supports one position or another. Nor would this be the first time that science was used in this fashion. It takes a great deal of humility to look outward without prejudging what is out there. When that humility is lacking, then instead of seeing what is out there, the learned doctors and professors come away seeing what is inside them instead.
That unfortunately is what the debate is actually about. The world is not in any danger, but human beings are, as usual, wrangling over their theories of how the world should be."....

Tell the global warming alarmists to give up their SUVs,
Ipods, computers, TVs, etc. go live out in the woods with
no electricity, if they’re so upset with the modern world.
I was just up in Burlington VT; this year we’ve hardly had any snow in New England. At Overlook Park, overlooking
Lake Champlain—no snow. Last year I’m sure there would have been a couple feet. And next year...there will probably be a couple feet. (It runs in cycles—a mild
winter, then two severe ones). Natuarally they’ll point to this year as “global warming”. Meanwhile...record snow in Europe. Explain that. (I can...it’s something called THE WEATHER.)
And we don’t influence it like they say we do. At the Leahy (yes, him) ECHO Science Ctr and Aquarium in Burlington,
one whole room was devoted to “global warming” and how
there would be bare ski slopes (guess what, even in mild winters, there’s snowmaking machines), the fall foliage
wouldn’t be as brilliant, and so on. Baloney.
>>SEASONS OF CHANGE: GLOBAL WARMING IN YOUR BACKYARD
Beginning January 21 come to ECHO to explore the impacts of climate change on Vermont, New England and beyond. Believer, skeptic or bystander, few would deny that “climate change” is a hot topic. From extreme weather patterns to the recent flooding of Lake Champlain the effects of global warming and climate change in general is hard to ignore.
John P. Holdren, Obama’s “Science and Technology” Czar is leading the charge and it isn’t just the “death of science” it is the death of free-market capitalism and our Republic.
Global warming is a religious cult. Its central premise that man is causing climate catastrophe is an article of faith that cannot be challenged. Anyone who disagrees with the established dogma is a heretic ...a “denier”. It has its saints and prophets ...Al Gore. It has its own well organized Inquisition to root out and silence any critics of the dogma ...the East Anglia e-mails show a coordinated effort to discredit contradicting research and prevent opposing views from being published is scientific journals. Lastly it will have ardent adherents regardless of scientific proof that the global warming premise is false.
Marx did the same thing.
It’s part of the left’s mentality to dismiss anyone that disagrees with them as “unworthy of being in the discussion”.
Marx claimed that his theories were “scientific”,
and anyone that disagreed with his theories was then, by definition, “unscientific”, and not worthy of discussion.
Do we see the left continuing this tradition today?
“The Global Warming Cult...”
It’s not a cult. It’s a bunch of brilliant, really-really smart, intensely intelligent, absolutely omniscient, superior beings who know science and all the secrets of the universe, as opposed to those moron deniers who know nothing.

“Its central premise that man is causing climate catastrophe”.
I believe your statement is just the up front talking point expressed on the issue.
The real agenda beyond wealth, power, and control, might be the unexpressed talking point that they are going to take the place of the God that wasn’t powerful or prepared enough to keep the weather, or for that matter anything you wish to name, in check. After all if there was a God, we wouldn’t be having these weather crises would we.
It’s humanism, as old as the Garden of Eden.
And with humanism goes the concept of “the only morality is the Will to Power”.
Yes, excellent. Isn’t this the writer who is often on the “Sultan Knish” website?
I don’t know.
Glad you had a chance to read it.
The author makes one slight error, the “left” is not a monolith it is a conglomeration of cults rigidly segregated. Does he think Al Sharptons 85 IQ cult gives a rat’s patoot about AGW? Does he think the cult of open borders for whichever group cares about AGW? Nope they want bling, American style. AGW is a cult for white liberals to make themselves useful to the left and to make a good living, and appear smarter than conservatives. The libs I work with all have post grad studies in science and when they try to explain AGW it is the “Brawndo” scene fro “Idiocracy.”
Does he?
Consider this. In Mark 3:22-24, Jesus says, "How can Satan cast out Satan? And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand."
Notice though, He frames this as a question and a prediction, He never says that demons can't cast out other demons> But Satan's kingdom will not stand.
Given the nature of Satan's kingdom, is it unreasonable that demons are a competitive bunch, willing to throw their buddies under the train? I don't think so, myself?
But here's the thing: they are ALL opposed to God's kingdom, and will join together to bring it down. As do ALL leftists to bring down Western civilization with its Judeo=Christian foundation>
Take it literally or metaphorically. I think that either way it makes sense about what's going on in the world today.
Greetings Cincinatus’ Wife:
Another great contribution.
Thanks,

It's scarcely arguable that, in the political sense, liberalism is on the ropes. Obama spent their last nickel. They have lost the House and will lose the Senate, with little chance of regaining them in the near future. The same is true of the White House once the messiah gets the bum's rush come 2012. Liberalism is on the skids, its programs uniform failures, its ideology barren, its slogans worn out, its long hold on the independents being relentlessly pared down by the Tea Parties.
So what is a political movement to do, particularly one as fanatic and apocalyptic as this one? Well, if you have an alternate system made up of outside organizations not subject to governmental oversight, a system populated with self-selected fanatics and true believers, a system poised and ready to march, you can do what was done in Wisconsin. You can turn the superstructure loose to threaten the public peace, smash things up, abuse the electoral process, create a media spectacle, and pressure the state to do things your way. You can use nonpolitical organizations (in the electoral sense) to get a political result.
All the groups involved in the Wisconsin campaign were superstructure groups. The unions, the very core organizations of the superstructure, without which it's no more than a pack of vegetarians and aging hippies. The media, which serves as its propaganda arm. And the judiciary, which is broadly infiltrated by leftist partisans whose allegiance has been awarded to something other than the law."..................
