The moment handcuffed woman, 20, was left brain dead after being Tasered for trying to escape police

A 20-year-old woman has been left brain dead - after she was Tasered by police and smacked her head on the ground. Danielle Maudsley had been taken to a Florida Highway Patrol Station after being arrested for a suspected hit-and-run in September. Handcuffed, she ran out of the door.

But as footage from a police cruiser dashboard camera reveals, Trooper Daniel Cole, who this week was cleared of any wrongdoing, fired a Taser's electric probes into her back.

She spun, fell backwards and hit her head on the ground. Bleeding and crying she tried to get up. She then blacked out and has remained unconscious ever since.

Yes, falling unprotected on the back of your head on concrete because you are tazed and have no motor ability didn’t cause her brain swelling and ultimate death.. No... not at all

And the fat cop's failure to support her head when she attempted to rise allowing her to crack it on the pavement when she passed out had nothing to do with any further injury. Why should a cop have to bend down to protect a critically injured suspect? It's not like they have any responsibilty to those in their custody ...

This girl rear ended two vehicles in two separate fender bender crashes. Of course the cop knew there were no injuries and he knew the tiny little girl was unarmed and high on drugs. But he couldn't risk tackling her; she could have punctured his gut with her skinny elbows or poked out his eye with her ribs which were probably protruding from her emaciated frame.

But he had to stop her to protect society. I mean, she could have borrowed another car from an another acquaintance without permission and committed more fender bender crashes while wearing handcuffs; That's why he had to kill her.

/sarcasm

a taser is nothing more than a long distance cattle prod.

she was a criminal, she hit someone and ran.

she was probably on drugs.

What was officer tubby’s excuse?

The hominem deserved it for saying:

“She should have either been beat to a pulp or shot.”

I get it....!

They probably sat her down in the lobby while they processed her paperwork and she jumped up and ran for the door. Procedural change: don’t leave suspects sitting in an rooms near unlocked exits even when handcuffed.

I think she needed tasing. The chick was way too fast. He would’ve had to leap to catch her and they both woulda went crashing onto the concrete. She had already slipped out of her cuff when in the cop car. The officer was already on notice this woman was slippery. He shoulda took extra precautions while she was in custody. The officer is also at fault for being too lackadaisical, he didn’t cuff her behind the back or cuff her to furniture, because he knew she was sneaky, possibly on drugs and trying to flee all the time.

“Based on that video, the review board was just protecting the thin blue line, nothing more.”

As always.

“Do your duty as a citizen and lobby your representative to make drug use, car theft, and hit and run punnishable by death.”

She pretty much did that all by herself.

Get arrested for drug charges and car theft and RUN from officers doesn’t usually end well. But, since she wasn’t smart enough to figure out drug use, stealing and running into people with a stolen car (without a drivers license no less) her life wasn’t exactly going to end well no matter what. And since her mother had also been arrested for the same things what else could you expect?!

“them police” was my damn auto correct. Was supposed to say “the police”, but auto correct leaves meet sounding like I live into the hood.
Judge dredd is a comic and movie character of a cops and judge rolled into one. Instant justice on the streets.

I want my children to grow up into a world where they don’t have to fear cops. Cops have become out of control thugs who’ve stopped seeing themselves as servants. I’ve never committed a crime, but have had more than enough experience with cops to hate them. I thought like you do, until pigs used me to get revenge on my father for daring to question their actions.
I’m not defending her, but cops need a hell of a lot more restraint and accountability.

Yes she chose to run, but her running did not kill her. If this cop had pulled a gun and shot her, he’d be up for murder, so don’t give me that the fact you ran means all bets are off and the cops can do whatever stupid thing they want.

Her running got her brain dead not killed. Your second sentence is spot on. You left out though, if he’d tackled her and the same injury occurred, you’d be screaming like Jessee Jackson.
It is a fact, if you run from the cops, all bets are off. Try it sometime. The cop took the best option he had. The young lady apparently never took any option but her own immediate personal gratification to mind. Hope her hit and run victims get some sort of compensation, but I doubt it

It was HER CHOICE to be in that situation to begin with. You don’t RUN from police officers once you are arrested. NOTHING good is going to come from it, period.

Besides, she (or her ambulance chasing ‘mother’ who is just like her with the same criminal arrests) didn’t seem to care about her brain before she fell by using Oxycodone and Cocaine.

But, NOW! her ‘mother’ is concerned. /s

She was skinny as a beanpole.

The officer was a large man, possibly 2 x the weight of the perp. He said if he had tackled her, his weight would have been a problem against her very thin size.

She was handcuffed & she ran from inside the station, where they were preparing to book her.

I think she is a long time drug user——very skinny-—& was VERY guilty of the 2 hit & runs she was being booked for.

Karma——do 2 hit & runs:

Then RUN & get hit with a Taser.

FReepers respect the rule of law and we don’t go around drugged up and causing accidents while under the influence of drugs or booze. And when or if we do we don’t fight the cops or run from them putting their safety in jeopardy.

Have you ever had to chase someone who was fleeing you?
Have you ever had to fight with someone who was smaller than you and in your attempt to try to subdue them (while not trying to injure them) you get injured yourself?

I worked in a psych ward for 5 years and had to deal with people under the influence of drugs and in psychotic rage. They might be smaller than you but they can injure you in ways that could end your being able to work for a long time. When you’re a 250 pound man trying to tackle a 90 pound woman without hurting her, you risk being injured and causing more injury to the person your fighting with than a tazer should or would cause.

Put yourself in this guys shoes and stop being a armchair quarterback. You’re a cop hater it’s obvious.

I don’t consider those who hate cops and cheer for the criminals to be a good FReeper. I consider them to be in the same group as the occutards and the Paulbots.

He wasn’t intentionally trying to kill her or punish her. He was doing his job trying to bring her to justice.

“Doctors say Danielle, who was found to have cocaine and oxycodone in her system at the time...”

she fled, high on drugs, cuffed, if he didn’t taze her and she ran in front of a car, would that be his fault too?

She ran out into the street cuffed on drugs. She already had a hit and run, 2 in fact. Eventually she would kill herself or somebody else. The law is there to protect the public from this sort of person.
