Drudge Turns on Santorum (Matt Drudge and Matt Rhoades are at it again...)
Atlantic Wire ^ | 2.21.12 | ELSPETH REEVE

Rick Santorum was sitting at the center of the Drudge Report's homepage Tuesday afternoon looking like a religious nut. "SANTORUM'S SATAN WARNING," the headline screamed, under a black-and-white photo of the candidate standing behind a lectern with a cross on it. The conservative blogger drives mad crazy traffic, and he's using it to attack the biggest threat to his reported ally, Mitt Romney. This isn't the first time Drudge has gone nuclear on a Republican who threatened Romney's candidacy.

I wonder how Matt Drudge’s pal, Ann Coulter, feels about Rick Santorum. She’s already written more than one column disparaging Newt.

According to Iran, Santorum’s probably a bit behind the curve on this. After all, we’ve already become “The Great Satan”.

I think you are slowly convincing me. That photo Drudge has up there of Santorum on an altar looks like a screenshot from some cheesy, 1980’s Made for TV movie bashing televangelists.

Well, ok.

It worked well before and caused conservatives to run like a whipped puppy. Why not do it again?

Exactly what have we shown to prove it wont?

The biggest enemies of social conservatives are liberal Republicans.

It’s not significant that Drudge reported it. If he had not someone else would have. The significant thing is the things Rick is on record saying. America won’t elect a religious zealot, just like they won’t elect a Libertarian zealot. Rick has to be smart in what he says and how he says it. Obama would love to have Santorum as his election foe because, unfortunately as things stand now, it would be no contest.

As things stand now, Santorum is within three points of Obama in the Rasmussen poll and ahead in Iowa in Des Moines register poll. This after weeks of Obama trying to make his stance on contraception an issue.

None of the polls suggest you're right.

Santorum’s discussion of good/ evil and God/ the devil was at a Catholic university and it was perfectly mainstream, IMHO.

If we cannot discuss god and evil, we are lost. His attack on academia is right on target as they have adopted “nihilism” - literally a belief in nothing - to justify doing anything to bring about the society they want.

This was a religious speech and it makes perfect sense. Oh, I see, people will listen to Obama say he asks Jesus to guide his actions several times a day, because he is lying? That makes sense /s

Drudge is reporting this on behalf of his “special friend” Matt Rhoades who is Romney’s campaign manager.

I know it’s risky with some voters, but maybe Santorum’s morality is resonating because voters know the country is in moral decline. I mean please, majorities have kids outside of marriage, drugs are rampant, millions of abortions, the list goes on. People know it’s messed up.

And they know Santorum is sincere.

I keep repeating, in 2008 Hilary and Obama appeared on a CNN religious forum and said again and again they make decisions based on God’s guidance and they laid it on just as much as Bush, Reagan or Santorum.

Matt Drudge sucks mitten’s toes.

The Drudge Report is not just Matt Drudge anymore. It's also Matt Rhoades, Joe Curl and Charles Hurt.

The unique thing about the Santorian story is that he publkjcly acknowledges believing in Jesus of Nazareth (Christianity). No other candidate for president has ever done this.

For those here that “claim’ to be Cristian and are unaware of the Devil —three words —READ the BOOK!

And next we will get a siren on Drudge for a video of weird things done and said by Bishop Mitt Romney in the Boston Mormon Temple.

Oh, that's right ...no cameras, no tape recorders, and, of course, no general public allowed.

Believe me, I’d be happy to be wrong. But that’s how I see it. In today’s political/social climate, I still feel the only way we get a really solid Conservative elected as president it to first get them in as VP. Such as Romney (or another perceived moderate) teaming with a more conservative candidate for a 2012 ticket, then electing the conservative as president in 2016 or 2020. This assumes the 2012 team performs well after elected, no small task given that the Dims and their msm lackeys will be battling them every step of the way.
