What if the children, whose packed lunches were forbidden, were suffering from food allergies? What if the oil that the chicken nuggets were cooked in was a no-no for that child? What if they were allergic to nightshade foods like potatoes? Finally, what if the children got sick from the school lunches? Who is responsible for making that boy or girl sick?

The lunch that the food nazis rejected was much healthier than fried chicken nuggets. Lower in sodium and cholesterol, too. The bottom line is, it does not matter WHAT we eat but that we all eat the SAME THING.
meat and dairy simultaneously... veal parmigiana, nachos with taco meat and sour cream and cheese smoothered in, yummy!! that being said, if someone made somoene else eat in a matter that violates their health needs or religous rules, they’d be getting a .45 in their face from me.
Yeah, I had noticed that.
I was taught that a square meal contains a sample of each food group: meat, dairy, grains/starches, fruit/vegetables. (This predates the food pyramid, and is, I think, far easier to use.) The chicken nuggets only contain two of those groups, where the kid’s lunch contained everything.
I find it sadly ironic that so many are OUTRAGED at the audacity of the government schools where they send their kids for most of the day, to be raised by strangers, taught things the parents are rarely aware of, instructed in morality and social principles that the parents my disagree with, told what is true and false, what to think about history, our country, freedom, democracy, EVERYTHING... and only now when it is diet the parents are oh-so shocked that the government would dare to undermine their authority. SURPRISE! You undermined your own authority when you sent your kids off to be raised by the government.
You are right, there are many reasons. I know a boy that would not eat while his parents were going through a nasty divorce- he really would not eat. His doctor told his mother to feed him ANYTHING he would even attempt to eat- candy, chips, you name it. When he started eating again she gradually altered his diet back to normal. So if food police had switched his lunch for a cafeteria meal they would have been going against his doctors orders.
You know what’s in those chicken nuggest they serve in schools? Not chicken ....
It is not just the chicken nuggets either- school cafeteria food in most schools is downright gross. Vegetables are so overprocessed/overcooked you can’t tell what they are, meat is unidentifiable...just gross and likely of little nutritional value either by the time it is on the tray.
Points to ponder for the food police...
