Rush: America Likes Santorum
Newsmax ^ | 02/24/12 | Michelle Lopata

The fact that Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum is a “good family man” is why he has gained traction recently with voters, according to radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh.

“My guess [why Santorum’s popularity is rising] might have to do with the fact that it’s now widely known that Santorum is a loving, devoted father,” Rush argued.

A recent Washington Post/ABC News story stated that Santorum is winning more support from Republican women and is “less unpopular” among Democrat and independent women than his GOP rivals Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich despite his views on abortion, contraception, and prenatal screenings as being perceived by the mainstream media as extreme.

“Santorum does not have an extreme view on contraception,” Limbaugh argued. “He’s not said a thing about it other than he wouldn’t come up with a government program to deal with whatever his view is.”

The Jimmy Carter disaster was exactly the parallel that was drawn on local talk radio this week. There has to be more there than just being a family man, much more. We don’t need for Rick to be our daddy, we a Statesman with Solutions to be our President. There is only one in this race and his name is Newt Gingrich.

I don’t think Rush is losing a step. He always gets a little distracted when he gets a new wife and tries to set her up in business. Remember the tie business he did with that Marta person.

I have a feeling this one is a lot better wife for him, but I digress.

I think Rush wants a Republican to win and agrees with most of us that we need to get Obama out no matter what less than perfect candidate we have to accept.

I think Rush really likes Newt but he and most other talk show hosts favor Santorum.

I think they are afraid of Newt for some reason. I don’t know why. Whether they think he will implode or has as yet unopened baggage, I don’t know.

I think they feel that Santorum is both safe and basically conservative enough.

I agree. He’s got some surface annoying characteristics but that’s not really important.

I know you’re not, it was the “royal” dude - as in universal dude - referring to the unnamed recipient of the statement, NOT directed at you.

One tax deduction that would be a major boost to manufacturing is the 100% tax deduction in one year for equipment for maufacturers, farmers, small businesses.

Think what a boon that would be for those who make the equipment, as well.

Think of the literally, millions of jobs that would be created if we follow Gingich’s plan for Energy Independence.
I would think that plan alone would excite anyone standing in an unemployment line.

These are the reasons I hope voters will take a serious look at Gingrich. I’m not hearing this from the others in the race.

Satin Doll - "His [Santorum] record while serving in Congress."

Really? Why don't you try some facts. Let's start with this. Was Santorum a Senate Spendthrift?

..............."The National Taxpayers Union (NTU) has been rating members of Congress for 20 years. NTU is an independent, non-partisan organization that — per its mission statement — “mobilizes elected officials and the general public on behalf of tax relief and reform, lower and less wasteful spending, individual liberty, and free enterprise.” Steve Forbes serves on its board of directors.

For each session of Congress, NTU scores each member on an A-to-F scale. NTU weights members’ votes based on those votes’ perceived effect on both the immediate and future size of the federal budget. Those who get A’s are among “the strongest supporters of responsible tax and spending policies”; they receive NTU’s “Taxpayers’ Friend Award.” B’s are “good” scores, C’s are “minimally acceptable” scores, D’s are “poor” scores, and F’s earn their recipients membership in the “Big Spender” category. There is no grade inflation whatsoever, as we shall see.

NTU’s scoring paints a radically different picture of Santorum’s 12-year tenure in the Senate (1995 through 2006) than one would glean from the rhetoric of the Romney campaign. Fifty senators served throughout Santorum’s two terms: 25 Republicans, 24 Democrats, and 1 Republican/Independent. On a 4-point scale (awarding 4 for an A, 3.3 for a B+, 3 for a B, 2.7 for a B-, etc.), those 50 senators’ collective grade point average (GPA) across the 12 years was 1.69 — which amounts to a C-. Meanwhile, Santorum’s GPA was 3.66 — or an A-. Santorum’s GPA placed him in the top 10 percent of senators, as he ranked 5th out of 50."..........................

........read more at the link. So, it doesn't appear you have your facts right.

In the end, our goal is to pry BHO2 out of the White House. Obama is evil.

The constant sparring over who is or isn’t the best candidate are, for me, fun. I like to compare facts. But they’re also irritating when it degenerates into name calling and anger.

Whoever the candidate, I will vote for the Republican over Obama. Everyone, he is our target, savez?

My firm belief is if it takes several radio talk show hosts most of their program to explain a politician’s positions, then that politician will LOSE.

Rush tells us frequently that we are not “mind numbed robots” and don’t need to him to tell us what to think. Unfortunately, that means no matter how many times he tells us that we really like Santorum, most of us ain’t buying.
