Maternity nurse Cari Luciano says she was stunned to be in scrap with Douglas Kennedy

Douglas Kennedy and his wife Molly with their son Boru.

The petite, Brooklyn-born nurse who tussled with Robert F. Kennedy’s son in a hospital maternity ward was stunned that she fought with a member of Camelot, her husband said Saturday.

Steve Luciano, 57, said his 5-foot-tall wife, Cari, was just doing her job when she tried to stop Douglas Kennedy from leaving the hospital with his 2-day-old baby boy.

“Her comment to me that night was, ‘I was assaulted tonight and could you believe it, it was a Kennedy who did it?’” Luciano told the Daily News on Saturday in front of his Hopewell Junction home.

He said his wife and nurse Anna Lane were simply trying to stop Kennedy, 44, from leaving the Northern Westchester Hospital with the baby, Boru, on Jan. 7 against hospital rules.

Steve Luciano said Kennedy kicked his wife in the pelvis and twisted Lane’s arm. The scuffle was caught on security camera.

“My wife was assisting Anna to simply encourage Mr. Kennedy to place the child back into its bassinet,” Luciano said. “It appears on camera that they stumbled into the stairwell and then he veered back and kicked Cari and she went sprawling to the floor.”

Luciano said ... “I don’t think that anybody, even a Kennedy, should go around kicking hospital personnel and believe there are no ramifications,” he said, adding that a civil suit was a possibility.

You stupid Freepers are just jealous because my bootlegger great granddaddy stole enough from others to give my worthless relatives and me entitlement, privilege and political power for generations.

Surely a hospital rule cannot be used to detain someone.

Say what you want but when the bitch at the hospital where my daughter (now 22) was born stood there and declared that our baby could not leave that domain without having a social security number I was a bit taken aback. They otta thank the God they don’t believe in that it wasn’t today. I’d have dismantled the place brick by brick.

Yes, I actually do believe it.

Cops arrested Kennedy on Thursday. He was charged with harassment and endangering the welfare of a child.

I guess the cops in Mt Kisco are stupid too by your estimation. Did you even bother to read the article at the source?

Oh heck - I didn’t notice your thread - with a different headline. Too busy checking for this news item after hearing a snip on CNN.

This happened on January 7th. If it had been anyone other than a Kennedy - it would have had Caley Anthony status.

I was assaulted tonight and I couldn't believe it was a Kennedy that did it

Ask Mary Jo and a few others if they believe.

Look i have no love of Kennedys but the hospital does not “OWN” the child...the parents have a right to leave at will with their child...the hospital can pond sand....unless they can show the child's life was in danger leaving

The question is—and no I have not read the article—is: Did the nurse know the guy was the father of the child?

If she did KNOW he was the father then the course of action on the hospital’s part was likely inappropriate. I say “likely” as the father and mother may be estranged and the father was attempting to remove the baby without the mother’s permission.

If she did NOT know Kennedy was the father, her attempting to stop and verify was clearly the right thing to do.

In any case, the nurse needed to verify what was happening and who was involved before the baby left the ward.

In any case, Kennedy reacted stupidly and with arrogance.

“unless they can show the child’s life was in danger leaving”

See Post 19.

Not just endangering the child, but also may be abducting the child.
