We should NOT have apologised for Koran burning, says Santorum
The Daily Mail ^ | February 26, 2012 | Hannah Roberts and Suzannah Hills

Rick Santorum has condemned President Barack Obama's apology for the burning of Korans at a U.S base in Afghanistan.

The Republican presidential hopeful added that Afghanistan should apologise to the U.S. for the deaths of four U.S. soldiers during six days of violence sparked by the incident.

'There was nothing deliberately done wrong here,' Santorum told ABC's This Week today.

'This was something that happened as a mistake. Killing Americans in uniform is not a mistake. It was something that deliberate.'

Another eight U.S. servicemen were wounded in a grenade attack today in violent protests that have engulfed Afghanistan this week, killing around 30 people. At least two demonstrators were also killed.

'The response needs to be apologized for by (President Hamid) Karzai and the Afghan people for attacking and killing our men and women in uniform and overreacting to this inadvertent mistake,' Santorum explained on NBC's 'Meet the Press'. 'That is the real crime here, not what our soldiers did.'

The president's apology suggests that there is blame and that the U.S. did something wrong 'in the sense of doing a deliberate act,' Santorum said.

Santorum says that rather than saying he was sorry, Obama should have only acknowledged that burning copies of Islam's holiest book in a trash pit was wrong and taken responsibility for the incident, 'but to apologise, I think, lends credibility that somehow or another that it was more than that.'

Santorum is the latest Republican to criticise Obama for apologising for burning the religious materials. Despite apologies from the president and other U.S. officials for what they said was a mistake, their regrets have not quelled the anger of Afghans, who viewed the Quran burnings as an illustration of what they perceive as foreign disrespect for their culture and religion.

My understanding is that the korans were already defaced and that’s WHY they were being burned. Also, our own government (Hussein & Gang) had Bibles over there burned to pacify the muzzies, ostensibly. So it’s not like the troops were just gratuitously burning korans. But yet Hussein never misses an opportunity to apologise, demean and betray the troops, and be the hypocritical POS that he is.

Thank you.

It is one of those stories that never got reported here in the UK, so I have only had the odd FR link to let me know what was going on in this case.

Burning a defaced Koran is fine - that is the correct way to dispose of it (same way you dispose of a badly damaged flag here). Completely burned, down to ash.

Your read on your current POTUS - absolutely spot on. I despise him and his obvious disdain for the troops. Some of the stunts he has pulled make me literally shake with rage.

Exactly-the korans were defaced in the first place by some Muslims who either worked with the troops or were prisoners, and had made note (and possibly code to each other) in them. So not only out of respect as you say, but possibly because if they had code in them, they could hardly just give them back. And yes, burning is the proper disposal of such. So I don’t know why Hussein and his 1600 Penn St Blood Gangstas even thought an apology was necessary. Actually. we can see that by any reasonable criteria, it wasn’t-Hussein’s just paying obeisance to one higher in the Muslim hiearchy than he himself is.

Really, we shouldn’t be surprised Muslims lie (it’s called taqqiya, allowable lying to infidels for allah *piss be upon his name*) Of course Hussein lies, he’s a politician. Of course he lies, he’s a Muslim. Of course he lies, he’s a
leftist. And of course he lies, he’s a -nevermind.

Yeah like that stunt yesterday that we need to “diversify” the SEALS. The apologists for this are saying ,”But the standards will remain the same, why would they not?” I’d like to scream into eac one’s eardrums, “BECAUSE THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT YOU ALWAYS SAY RIGHT BEFORE YOU CHANGE THEM! “ Like they did for firefighters and law enforcement, because “weez neez mo divuhcitee” and the minorities taking the tests were always at the bottom. This, my friend, is dumbing-down, it’s rampant in academia, in media (didn’t have far to fall there anyway), and nationally in everything. in our race to reach that moving goal-post of diversity, everything is being driven to the lowest common denominators, and what do you think that’s going to do a formerly great culture? From Beethoven to , oh, I don’t know, Snoop Doggy Dogg (I make a concerted effort to stay i anaware of pop culture) -I can just see civilisationrise ever onward and upward. Enough for tonight, I’m going to listen to Lester Roloff sermons online, that always stiffens my backbone and gets my thinking-and priorities right. Thanks for the talk, goodnight.

Diversify SEALS? You are joking, right? I hope so, cause an entire mouthful of coffee hit the laptop when I read that.

What do they want - an equal number of non killers who cry over the targets?

I am rather fond of Billy Graham’s sermons when I need to cheer up. Sure, he isn’t exactly my Church, but he is a powerful speaker and a very smart man. Same effect though - gives me courage to lift up the load and walk through another day.

Nope, I’m not joking. They swear the standards won’t be lowered and they’re only raising “recruitment awareness” but that’s what they said at first when they did this with law enforcement and firemen, and now they get sued left and right for “scrimination” when minorities can’t pass the already dumbed-down tests, and in some departments swimming requirements have been dropped.

What Hussein and the left have been salivating for and are achieving-the undermining and weakening of the mighty American military, and to try to run all the patriots out so it becomes their tool and easily turned on the armed citizenry. I wish ‘em luck with that-they’ll learn just what AA slot fulfillment is good for. It has never stopped being true that white males compose the huge majority of combat positions.

Billy Graham, haha. I’m hardcore fumdamentalist Independent Baptist, we separate from the likes of him!

fumdamentalist=fundamentalist. The joys of typing on an onscreen keyboard!

I was raised part Roman Catholic, part Southern Baptist, and part Holiness Charismatic Pentacostal, so have some tiny familiarity with those branches. Becoming fundamentalist Independent Baptist was my own (late adulthood) conviction.

While you joke, it makes him look stupid. We all make mistakes with grammar, but to do it repeatedly opens up the door for mockery. I would like to think our candidates will speak intelligently.
