Alliance Defense Fund Senior Counsel Gregory Baylor will join Geneva College President Ken Smith [last] Tuesday at a press conference to announce a new federal lawsuit against the Obama administration over what ADF and the college call its unconstitutional mandate that religious employers provide abortifacients, sterilization, and contraception to employees regardless of religious or moral objections.
People of faith shouldnt be punished by the state for following that faith in making decisions for themselves or their organizations, said Baylor. Every American should know that a government with the power to do this to anyone can do thisand worseto everyone.
Smith, the president of the Christian college, added, At Geneva College, we only have one Lord, and he does not live in Washington, D.C.
He continued: The First Amendment protects Americans from mandates that require us to act against our own convictions. We find the mandate to provide our faculty, staff, and students with insurance that provides pills to abort babies totally abhorrent and unacceptable. The government shouldnt be able to force anyone to buy or sell insurance that subsidizes morally objectionable treatments.
The lawsuit, Geneva College v. Sebelius, will be filed in federal court [last] Tuesday.
Geneva College is a comprehensive Christian college of the arts, sciences, and professional studies founded in the tradition of the Reformed Presbyterian faith. And Ken Smith is just the kind of smart one-of-us kind of guy we want pushing such a case on our behalf.
Good!
If 0bama wins in Nov., it will get uglier.
This is a test. If Obama gets away with this there is no telling what he will do next.
I think Obama proposed this knowing full well it wouldn’t pass muster. He will be ‘forced to back off’ by the BAD Catholics and Christians, but his minions will know that he tried and it was not his fault that it didn’t pass. He will have successfully turned eyes away from his failed economy and rancid presidency for at least some time, gathered the feminists together and roused their ire for the election.
He may not have counted on the fact that the HHS mandate constellated that much fury among ALL religious people, tho.
Good for Geneva College!
This is a test. If Obama gets away with this there is no telling what he will do next.
Thanks ctdonath2.
