'US to announce aerial blockade on Syria'

US readies for possibility of intervention without UN resolution, Asharq Al-Awsat reports, citing US military official; plan to include humanitarian aid to Syrian refugees on Turkey's border

The Pentagon is readying for the possibility of intervention in Syria, aiming to halt Syrian President Bashsar Assad's violent crackdown on protesters, the newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat reported Saturday, citing a US military offical.

According to the official, the intervention scenario calls for the establishment of a buffer zone on the Turkish border, in order to receive Syrian refugees. The Red Cross would then provide the civilians humanitarian aid, before NATO crews would arrive from Turkey and join the efforts.

The measure would pave the way for the US to declare an aerial blockade on Syria.

The intercession is to be modeled after NATO's efforts in Kosovo, which brought an end to the Serbian control of the region. NATO's plan of action included prolonged aerial shelling.

The US' diplomatic efforts have yet to yield an effective international resolution that would stop the bloodshed. More than 100 protesters have died over the weekend alone, human rights activists said.

The government is very tight on giving out visas these days. You cannot talk openly about it the telephone because the government are constantly monitoring it.

You you say something wrong, it could mean a death sentence. The government likes to drag people out of their homes and shoot them in front of their families and neighbors.

These are Sunni Islamists. The Iranians can’t stand them-they are Shia.

These guys have been at each other’s throats since that Cain guy whacked Able in the head?

Why do we want to get involved in other’s civil wars? This is like one of Disney’s Alladin 6 straight to video sequels. You’ve seen it all before, you know how it ends, and the cast is third rate. Not worth wasting your time over.

But our government cannot seem to help itself. Sometimes Ron Paul almost makes sense. I said almost.

This is all fantasy. Its a trial balloon.

This is a couple steps above McCains blathering, it is designed to desensitize us. The media will discuss it until the average American simply turns the channel and accepts this intervention as 'old hat"

...and this most certainly is not our fight.

US readies for possibility of intervention without UN resolution...

Makes sense. Obama ignores the US Constitution, why bother paying attention to the UN? After all, there's an election to be won!

It is not fantasy. This is where the gas price hikes come from.

Obama has to ask himself, Is he willing to shoot down a Russian or Iranian plane and start a war? If people do not know, the only way to get a flight into Damascus is via Moscow. So is going to shoot down a commercial airliner?

.
This is all I need to know to take the side of the Syrian President.

The NATO mission in Kosovo was a cruel attack on the native Christian culture of Kosovo. It was Wesley Clark’s training mission for the moslem terrorists he had armed and trained.

The alternate routes are Beirut and Tehran. From Beirut you have to take a bus.

That’s Gen. Lemay in the photo, correct?

Man, that pic makes a guy think that John Goodman (minus a hundred pounds or so) should have been a shoo-in to play old Iron Pants in the movie, no?

And reducing our military by leaps and bounds.

Let’s see. At the same time as we’re dead broke (with per-capita debt MUCH worse than Greece, which is about to go bankrupt even though they are willing to at least TRY to cut spending) we’re still spending worse than drunken sailors on stuff like bankrupt “green energy” companies’ CEOS’s (who just so happened to donate to Obama) .... BUT WE’RE BASICALLY DEFUNDING OUR MILITARY WHILE...

we’re engaging our military all over the Middle East to make sure that Islamist regimes take over what had previously been secular allies in the War on Terror...

we’re putting women in combat because we don’t have enough troops to handle the combat we’re in without putting women there....

we’re getting rid of most of our nukes....

we’ve agreed with Russia not to upgrade our missile defense system...

we’re reducing hazard pay and health insurance benefits for soldiers which the VFW has said will mean we can forget having a volunteer military any more....

we got rid of DADT, which was an incentive to keep sex out of the military workplace (and we all know that with both women and gays in combat situations, we’re inviting soap operas galore, in an environment where relationships HAVE to be trustworthy and low-maintenance, or lives and missions are jeopardized).....

EVERYBODY IN WASHINGTON DC HAS TO BE SUICIDAL TO WATCH THIS HAPPEN. I KNOW OBAMA WANTS TO DESTROY THIS COUNTRY, BUT IS THERE NOBODY THAT WE ELECTED WHO IS WILLING TO STOP THIS SUICIDE?!

Sort of like a “no fly zone” but this is a country that has hundreds if not thousands of SAMs. If this report is true, it HAS to be followed by a naval blockade as well. As someone has already stated, it is an act of war.

We would need two CVNs and their strike groups to pull this off and have the resources on “ready hot” for unintended consequences.

How are we supposed to do all this stuff while drastically cutting military spending - the one area that is Constitutional for the feds to do and yet the one area where Obama is willing to make critically deep cuts?

What the heck does he think he’s doing? I mean, I know what he’s doing but he needs to at least attempt to explain to the USA how we’re supposed to install Islamist regimes all over the globe and still defend our own country on the shoe-string budget he’s willing to let the military have.

We’re already being told we can’t defend our southern border because we just don’t have the manpower to do it. What it takes to make manpower is money, and we’re going to spend all our money instead on air raids to install an Islamist regime in Syria (Iran’s arch-ally), jacking up gas prices in the process so that the air raids will cost even more money?

Somebody needs to haul Obama in for an inquisition.
