What the heck is wrong with people?

Easy, they lack discernment. No one should put too much faith in the American people; the record shows it would be misplaced.

Really? Look at our soldiers. They're American people and they're pretty exceptional. Look at the Americans of WWII, the women who worked to support the war effort. Look at the enormous amounts of money Americans raise within days of any disaster, anywhere in the world. While you may have lost (or never had) faith in the American people, the record shows different.
