How to Beat Obama
ForeignPolicy ^ | MARCH/APRIL 2012 | KARL ROVE AND ED GILLESPIE

Posted on 02/27/2012 5:53:49 AM PST by Daffynition

In an American election focused on a lousy economy and high unemployment, conventional wisdom holds that foreign policy is one of Barack Obama's few strong suits. But the president is strikingly vulnerable in this area. The Republican who leads the GOP ticket can attack him on what Obama mistakenly thinks is his major strength by translating the center-right critique of his foreign policy into campaign themes and action. Here's how to beat him.

Nominate a conservative and ignore anything and everything Karl Rove has to say.

I was actually going to read this analysis and then I saw it was by Karl Rove. Life is too short to waste on what Karl Rove says.

How do you get the fans for the cross-town high school to quit supporting their team? Show them that their team is actually supporting the other guys. Show the rich Democrats....over and over.

The lousy economy and high unemployment are proof that Obama can screw up anything.
Only the slackers, moochers and bribe takers support him.

The number one way for Republicans to win the election is to STOP ALLOWING THE PRESS TO DICTATE THE CONVERSATION.

This election is NOT about contraception; it is about THE ECONOMY and Obama's failures. This election is NOT about the church and the influence of religion on our government; it is about THE ECONOMY and Obama's failures.

Every time the press asks a question about one of these side issues, the candidates need to politely but firmly refuse to go there. They need to do as Newt did in the last debate and redirect the focus back to Obama, the economy, the price of gasoline, the number of people out of work and who have given up even looking for work.

Never, ever allow the MSM to tell the candidate what the topic of conversation is--always, always turn the conversation back to Obama's horrific job as President and his absolute failure to ably serve this nation--and his callous disregard for the Constitution and the rule of law.

That is how you win the election.

it is about THE ECONOMY and Obama's failures.

If only we put as much energy into running against obama as we do against Mitt. Yes, he's a rino. Yes, he's a bad choice. Is he as bad as obama? Hell No. I was a Perry supporter, now I'm a Gingrich supporter because Perry backed him. I get that people don't like Romney. I don't agree with him on most things either but I do not have it in me to conjure up the over-the-top hatred in my heart for him that people here have. I reserve that for obama.

The same way you would beat any other Marxist community organizer, with a short club about 24 inches long.

Unlike many here, I admire Rove and think he has things to say that we ought to listen to. But after reading this, I think he misses the boat.

The Republican nominee has to project an air of quiet, steady confidence, seriousness, intention and idealism.

Above all, he must evoke the assurance of better days, of the “shining city on the hill”, of a secure, prosperous and just society. It’s a meme, cliche’ even, but it’s what we profoundly desire. That is what Ronald Reagan did, and that is what Obama’s campaign parodied in ‘08; even that sham reflected enough of the real thing to win.

I fear that too hard a focus on the particulars will obscure the overall picture.

I have often wondered; if people like Rove know so much, why the hell don’t THEY run?
