Horrified teenage girl returns to find car has been deliberately crushed by man in monster truck

A teenage girl has been left broken-hearted after her car was crushed by a man in a huge camouflaged truck.

Norman Nowling, 40, from Fort Myers in Florida was arrested on Saturday after witnesses claimed he had deliberately driven over the 1994 Toyota Corolla several times.

The incident occurred at the Redneck Yacht Club during the annual 'Swamp Cabbage Weekend', which sees 4,000 revellers in monster trucks and pickups speed around an 800-acre mud park for fun.

The young woman had heard that a car had been crushed while she was at a mus pit with friends, and alerted security as soon as she returned to find the vehicle was hers. A private security guard reported seeing a large group of spectators gather round the vehicle at around 3am, urging two large trucks to run it over because 'the owner doesn't care'.

The trucks attempted to drive over the vehicle, but failed. A large camouflaged van with five-foot wheels then approached the car, and deliberately smashed into the bonnet from both sides.

Encouraged by the chanting crowd, the driver drove over the entire car several times

A spokesperson for the Redneck Yacht Club said that everyone signs a liability waiver upon entering the mud park, and that the incident was an unfortunate event that occurred on their property.

I imagine a true REDNECK event has no shortage of good-ole boys running around saying, “Hey guys watch this!”

Isn’t that “Hold muh beer - watch this.”

"You are very good at jumping to conclusions....."

Uhhh, noooo, you are the one who evidently failed to read the article....or don't follow reason.

The driver was told it was OK to crush the car, and the owner was not there to complain. So he does what might be expected, considering the venue. Yet you support killing him AFTER the owner finds her car crushed. Somehow, I doubt even you could construe that to be justified under ANY states' laws.

And where, oh where, does the impregnation of anybody's daughter get mentioned....or were you just inferring, given her age, the venue and the crowd?

You intimate I defend his right to destroy the car....nope, but I damned sure reject the notion he should forfeit his life for the actions laid out in the article.

More here:

Norman Nowling, 40, of Fort Myers, was arrested for driving his van with five-foot wheels, over the car.

Witnesses say the van smashed both sides of the hood before driving over the entire car several times.

"It's tragic. It's maddening," says Paul King, Director of Marketing for Redneck Yacht Club.

King calls the weekend's car smash an isolated and unfortunate situation.

Management says Nowling isn't welcomed back to the club.

"Shocked, absolutely shocked that something like that would happen here where everyone is having fun. It's hard to even describe," King said.

Online, Nowling says he took out the car all in good fun.

He writes on the Redneck Yacht Club's Facebook page, "This is a big misunderstanding. Will pay for damages. Sorry this happened. Your car had been run over before I got there."

His arrest report appears to back him up. Security guards tell deputies that two other cars ran over the Corolla first, and when Nowling asked passersby if he could follow, they told him, "The owner doesn't care. You can do it."

We can all be glad we don’t live in Florida (although some do ‘exist’ there)

Its a crime to leave a child unattended in a car, especially in Florida. Today it was about 85 degrees, easily hot enough to kill a child left in a car.

But this was 3am. Does your daughter normally leave her baby unattended in her car at 3am while at truck rallys?

Yup.

In most places the police derive many of their powers from the same law ALL citizens do.

"was arrested and charged withfelony criminal mischief." There's the rub. Probability that the The DA will reduce the charges if the perp buys the young lady another car.

Hey, Dumbo, I’m a Southerner, so I’m allowed!

Go find somewhere else to be offended.

Well perhaps you live down to your own standards. While you probably meant it to be funny in reality it was idiotic.

But yes you are entitled to be idiotic, so help yourself.

I agree.

Were this 1775 I’ve no doubt that many of those bleeding hearts would be outraged...OUTRAGED!!! that anyone would shoot at British soldiers who were just doing their jobs and shooting at rebels. They’d probably also tell you that they were being good citizens by giving up their homes, crops, horses, and daughters to those same troops.

I’ve also no doubt that these same people would curse quacks like Samuel Adams who knew best how to respond to them:

“If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”

No, I am not....you are.

Castle Doctrine DOES NOT APPLY after the fact.

Read the article, read the law, connect. the. dots.
