The California Department of Public Health has begun a program of providing free condoms by mail to children as young as twelve.

The Condom Access Project (CAP) was rolled out the week of February 14th in Alameda, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Kern and parts of San Francisco counties under the direction of the California Family Health Council. These areas were chosen, according to the STD Control Branch of the Department of Public Health, because of the high rates of pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases and infections among teens in these counties.

Supporters of the program admit that while abstinence is the only sure way of preventing teen pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases, they believe that providing more free condoms will help to decrease California’s staggering teen pregnancy and STD rates.

Across the West attempts at reducing STDs and unintended pregnancies by making condoms and other contraceptives easily available to children and teens, has not resulted in the anticipated reduction in teen pregnancy, abortion and disease.

In one case, a report on a massive sex-ed and contraceptive program carried out in Scotland and aimed at children aged ten to 18 said the initiative failed and that teen pregnancies and rates of sexually transmitted diseases continue to climb. Another study in Spain found that as contraceptive use increased, the rate of unintended pregnancy and abortion rate climbed right alongside.

It’s the fact that they’re giving away free lubricant that points this out as a homosexual give away.

Back in Boston(circa 1974) a conservative talk show guy, Avi Nelson, advocated “ Sex Stamps” for ugly,or fat,or pock-marked people, so they could get laid. Also, it would cut down on rapes, and other sex crimes. If you knew Avi(he was a personal pal of mine)you would know that it was a gag. But one caller after another called in “ Gee Avi....I’m not sure....”(or) I’m a liberal and all that, but....” (or) “I thought that you were a right wing nut, but THIS is a great idea!!”

Looks like we are almost there.......

RE: “Just trying to help :)”

You FOOL SoL. They are now liable to make that request and blame it all on “the conservative at Free Republic” who thought it was a good idea.

When oh when are you gonna either
end your sarcasm with a tag, or
simply end your sarcasm — it’s LOST on those it is aimed at.

I know it’s difficult to say what you really would like to say, but it may very well take much martyrdom before we see any real changes.

The SAT has been “re-centered” and dumbed-down in other ways since the 70’s.

It would be interesting to see the "un-centered" scores so we could better grasp the educational decline.

LOL, yes I can dream up better ideas than even Newt.

The thought of those government workers inspecting and certifying each used and returned device brightened my day. Heck they could register each receipient genetically (without telling them of course) much like the government tracks the movement of wildlife. Think of the new policies they could come up with from that information in a data bank....and most people will tolerate anything for a rebate check...

What do you mean sarc?? :) Have I ever been known for that?

Hotel cleaning ladies would be retiring early on the $$$ such that we will need more *immigrants* to refill those positions.

I’m sitting here reflecting on my experience with those areas of California, and those areas are the most Liberal of the State IIRC, therefore I must presume this is the result of Liberalism that Liberals are trying to “fix”.

We should all mail our congressmen a “Letter of Resignation”
with THEIR name on it.

First of all, increasing contraceptive access to younger and younger ages provably increases sexual activity more than it decreases pregnancy and STD’s.

Second, the younger the users, the greater the incidence of method failure (with condoms, the slip-rip-and-drip factor.)

Third, every STD but particularly HPV, correlates with girls having sex too young, too frequently and with too many guys.

Fourth, historically, contraceptive access does not correlate inversely with abortion and nonmarital pregnancy. They go up in tandem.

Fifth, sexualizing children directly enables sexual predators by desinsitizing kids to sexualized interactions with adults.

Sixth, would you trust the head of the California Dept. of Public Health with your car keys or your online banking password? Then why the heeking frell would you trust him with your kids?
