people have a habit ( especially here on FR ) of lumping all libertarians into one basket. There are small l libertarians, and capital L libertarians. The capital L libertarians are the ron paul nut jobs. The small l libertarians are actually more conservative than so called republican conservatives. Just tell these people that all republicans are conservatives.
The constitution, as written, applied as written, would piss off liberals and so called conservatives alike. Many sacred cows would be gored. Have a conversation with a so called social(ist) conservative, and what you will find is that both sides want to rule our behavior with laws. The laws just come from the opposite side of the political spectrum.
