In an at-times heated interview, Fox and Friends co-host Gretchen Carlson grilled Democratic Nation Committee chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz over high gas prices, and played video of her criticizing President Bush over the same problem.
So I think you felt the President could have done something about lowering the gas prices, Carlson pressed. What do you say now that gas prices are going to reach $5 a gallon under President Obama?
What I was referring to in that speech, as I have for many years, is that focusing on fossil fuels and continuing the drill baby drill strategy that President Obama rightly referred to the other day in south Florida as a bumper sticker, not an energy policy, is not the way to go, Schultz replied. We are not going to address gas prices over the long-term because there is there is no President in the short-term that can really change policy and impact gas prices in a significant way. But what we do need to do is over the short-term and long-term make sure that we are using the all of the above strategy that President Obama has employed: more domestic energy production than weve had in eight years, making sure that we invest for the future in alternative energy like wind and solar and hydroelectric power, so that we can really start to impact our need to depend on
But A lot of Americans are wondering whats going to happen now and a lot of those things take time, Carlson shot back.
Affecting gas prices takes time, Schultz acknowledged. Youre absolutely right,

The fact that she can ever say anything at all with a straight face is a true testament to her idiocy.
Psycho biotches like her have no problem lying.
We have come to the point where the Dems can say anything, and their base, which includes the media, will swallow it, without question.
Unless the President is a republican. Then, he is expected to stop hurricanes and command gas prices to magically get lower without focusing on fossil fuels.
What a moron.
The Kenyan lizard thinks he can win with high gas prices and a nothing I can do message.
I doubt it.
Gretchen has mixed it up with Debbie Downer on a few occasions. She has what Lou Reed called “Spunk” I always liked Gretchen even when she was doing the Early Sat show for cBS way back when.
Beauty and the Beast!!
I’ve heard that if you hold Democratic Nation Committee chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s head up to your ear, you can hear the ocean!
As far as intellectual abilities go, it’s a pick ‘em.
Gretchen Carlson is hopeless - when she gets angry she gets tongue tied. DWS is a ripe target of for charges of hypocrisy but this was a missed opportunity.
I never thought that there was a loathsome, dissembling Democrat I could dislike more than Barney Frank, and then Debra Wasserman Schultz raised her snake-covered head like some beast out of the sea.
/shudder/
Keystone is turning into a millstone.
Now the people get to vote on $5/gal gas.
Pray for America
Gretchen doesn’t tolerate frauds well.
Actually, when you are in Florida and look into Debbie Washerwoman's ear, you can SEE the ocean.
So when its a Republican President the gas prices are his fault—when its a Democrat it isn’t—Sorry, you can’t have it both ways. Anyone can see that the policies of Obama have been a factor in the high prices. From the mis managed Gulf oil spill, to the taking out of coastal drilling, to the rejected pipeline—even his polices toward Iran are a factor.
