http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/11/27/bill-clinton-says-gingrich-surge-a-result-of-thoughtful-positions/

It is not the one I originally found - that was two video segments on the same page with some talking head and had Newt laughing at the interviewer and pointing out that of course Clinton can’t be drawn too hard - his wife is Sec of State for the current administration after all!
You know how hard it is to repeat a link chain after a month or so! But the expression is the same. There is a definite fondness and respect there.

I honestly think that one of the reasons Clinton is still popular is precisely because of his bad boy image. One of the few Dems in recent year who believed enough in America and American exceptionalism to work with his idealogical foes and accept their point of view enough to sign it into law.

He is no saint, though like I say - I just like the guy. I could have a beer or two with him, no problem at all. We’d argue like fury, but it would be in fun, not anger.

We cynics here in Europe are a lot more relaxed about the sexual behaviour of politicians, figuring “they are going to do it, so lets just know about it and make sure it doesn’t influence the running of the country.”
Look at Belusconi - tag teaming 17 year olds (and before you get upset, they were of legal age). Sarkozi - sleeping with an ex supermodel (hoo boy, I’d go for it!) while divorcing. Merkel - please don’t even make me think about her having sex at all!

I do keep expecting to wake up one morning and see Speaker Gingrich getting Cain’d. Those media charges were total BS and everyone knew it, yet they sunk him.
The MSM have tried it twice already with the Speaker. Once with his (frankly insane) second wife and once with hints and nods about “secret info” from that Californian bint that I refuse to even name. You know full well that 90% of the people watching immediately thought of some sex scandal there.

As far as the Speaker goes, what did he do. He married a woman after he was statutory raped. He left her - on her request and married a lunatic. He then married his current wife. OK, there was some overlap. Lot of people do the same. It isn’t right - cheating never is - but it is not really a huge issue for me.

FRegards to you!

Thanks for the quick response and bookmarked for later viewing.

I understand why a lot of men like Bill Clinton. I'm less understanding why so many women do.

Just out of curiosity, which gender are you? Are you a Brit or an American ex-pat over there?

One of the things I really miss about working in Japan is the endless parade of people which I worked with from all over the world. Because I'm not the type who is easily offended (or at least doesn't show it), I got a real education on mindsets all over the globe as opposed to the American or Japanese way of doing things. Discounting these two (of whom I am a product and therefore probably a somewhat biased observer), I enjoyed the Brits second only to the Singaporeans.
