“It has come to my attention that an ad for a film disparaging the health reform law which includes the phrase 'go to h[—-] Barack' was recently placed in the Clarendon Metro stop in Arlington, Va.,” Rep. Jim Moran (D-Va.) wrote the general manager of the Washington metro system.
“This ad is deeply disrespectful of the President of the United States and does not belong” in a public transportation station, he said.
A spokesman for Metro tells POLITICO that the agency is not allowed by law to discriminate against ads based on their political content.
"WMATA advertising has been ruled by the courts as a public forum protected by the First Amendment of the Constitution, and we may not decline ads based on their political content. WMATA does not endorse the advertising on our system, and ads do not reflect the position of the Authority," said spokesman Dan Stessel.

Well, in that case someone should ban Rep. Moran from ever making a public utterance again. Everything he says is offensive to me.

Wow, is that Jim Moran ever easy to offend.
He has a set of deep personal problems, he really does. Representing a highly diverse (racially) distirct, he uses a number of pejorative terms in private in reference to these same racial groups, he is a misogynist, and he as an ongoing drinking problem.
But he is no quitter, he has held the same seat in Virginia for as long as I can remember (about 1990?). He has been a really “dirty tricks” campaigner, and has made enormous personal wealth through his insider traiding access to market knowledge.
Also something of a personal bully. Once grabbed and choked an 8-year-old kid.
I hope WMATA sticks to its guns on their policy. Just an anecdote: I met Carlton Sickles the ‘father of the Metro’ in the doctors’ office just before he died. I had no idea who he was - but he had a tiny Metro pin in his lapel and I prattled on how much I enjoyed the convenience of it. He took the pin off and gave it to me. After he left someone told me who he was. I still have his commemorative service pin. A kind, gentle man.
