Obama: I’ll Buy A Chevy Volt After My Presidency Ends March 1, 2012 5:32 PM

Ever since Barack Obama became president in 2008, he hasn’t been given much chance to drive a car, let alone own one.

But when his presidency ends, Mr. Obama knows exactly what car he wants to buy as his post-presidential ride — a plug-in Chevrolet Volt.

“Five years from now when I’m not president anymore, I’ll buy one and drive it myself,” Obama promised 1,600 auto workers at a United Auto Workers union event in Detroit on Tuesday.

“Yes, that’s right,” he reiterated, accompanied by deafening applause.

Back in July 2010, President Obama visited the Compact Power battery plant in Holland, Michigan, where he was given his first real Volt experience.

A few weeks later, Obama visited General Motor’s Detroit Hamtramck Facility where the Volt is built. He even got a chance to sit behind the wheel of a pre-production Volt and drive it 10 feet — but due to security concerns, didn’t get much further.

“The Secret Service wouldn’t let me drive it. But I liked sitting in it,” The President told the assembled audience. “It was nice. I’ll bet it drives real good.”

I don’t know that he ever owned a car let alone a driver’s license. While the press always looks at the candidates rides the only mention I’ve ever seen about Bambi’s is when the media talks about The Beast (the car, not the Wookie).

Five years from now, the only Volts on the market will be used. No way these things are still being built.

I look forward to him buying one next year. Does GM offer fire insurance on this model, Barry?

Five more years of his sorry ass and we might all be walking. Since we can't use our own resources, we can't drill, we can't build new power plants, we can't build a pipeline.

On the other hand, what if everybody just told him to go straight to hell and we do all of it anyway?

F U B O !

What happened to the USA that many of us older Americans grew up in, where we Americans if not outright proud of made in America products, we didn’t waste our time tearing them down, just because they were made in USA?

We built our country up instead of finding ways to tear it and us USA citizens down along with it. Politics and politicians and the Parties have connived and figured it all out that it is better to divide us, and sacrifice the USA, than to sacrifice their sorry worthless do-nothing butts.

I find it disheartening to see political discourse actually turn against the nation, instead of turning against those that work to weaken us and tear us down from the outside. The sap sucking self promoting pundits and self interested politicians who constantly create the divide, have become more of a threat to our country than our enemies. Make no mistake they will take and steal our rights to secure their power and our treasury for their cronies.

I received a BS email the other day about the Volt that was total lying political garbage quoting $1.13/kwh that no one in the USA pays. Are there any pro USA Patriots left or have they all become partisan fools?

GM is the UAW.

GM took billions of OUR money, used it to pay for union benefits, screwed investors who should have been first in line to get their money back, and funneled money via union dues back to the Democrats that made that money possible. I detest them with a fervency I used to reserve for external enemies.

Our major enemies are INTERNAL and are working hard to weaken us and tear us down from within.

Or GM sill give it to him. He isn’t going to pay shit for anything because he figures it is owed to him.

I agree, GM took billions and some who held debt and owned dealerships got screwed and I strongly opposed that.

But you can’t compare the peanuts that GM and UAW received with the crown jewels worth TRILLIONS that the bankster thieves, who with the help of their Fed Reserve cronies, owned politicians and printing presses got, and who will continue to get and have smiled every year for the last 4 years with billions in bonuses that does nothing for our economy.

It’s time Americans start defending the USA economy instead of Parties and politicians and those who bribe them. .

Capitalism was once about risk / reward and about creating real and new industry and productive enterprise. Today it’s about M&A deals and gains for the club of bankers only. The conversion from real capitalism to crony banksterism has led to the decline in the USA and corruption in government. Money buys everything.

Obama means nothing. He needs to be defeated. But neither do the parties mean anything.

The viability and success of the USA means everything to me. We first need a nation that succeeds, and as a priority instead of the politicians that want to succeed.

I prefer living in a nation that has a 100K in 2012 dollars as median income, to one that has all of its income going to thieving NYC bankers who scam the system because they own politicians.

I oppose debt. We have a media that encourages American Idol fools to go into more debt so that the bankers and their media marketing cohorts can take their assets, and then own our public assets when the bubble breaks and they can’t pay. That’s the game plan.

Stay out of debt; buy only what you can afford; and take the propagandizing Hollywood Edward Bernays worshiping media and turn the TV switch off.

It’ll have to be used and there’ll only be a couple warranty years left on the battery.

i’d prefer he buy a new one.
