Obama: Sin is what doesn't match 'my values'
SRN News.com ^ | March 2, 2012 | Michael Foust / Baptist Press

The one-hour interview by Cathleen Falsani was conducted when Obama was running for U.S. Senate (2004)...

Among Obama's most intriguing answers, he says he believes there are many paths to God. His answers on heaven and sin, though, have drawn the most discussion:

FALSANI: "Do you believe in heaven?"

OBAMA: "Do I believe in the harps and clouds and wings?"

FALSANI: "A place spiritually you go to after you die?"

OBAMA: "What I believe in is that if I live my life as well as I can, that I will be rewarded. I don't presume to have knowledge of what happens after I die. But I feel very strongly that whether the reward is in the here and now or in the hereafter, the aligning myself to my faith and my values is a good thing. When I tuck in my daughters at night and I feel like I've been a good father to them, and I see in them that I am transferring values that I got from my mother and that they're kind people and that they're honest people, and they're curious people, that's a little piece of heaven."

FALSANI: "Do you believe in sin?"

OBAMA: "Yes."

FALSANI: "What is sin?"

OBAMA: "Being out of alignment with my values."

FALSANI: "What happens if you have sin in your life?"

OBAMA: "I think it's the same thing as the question about heaven. In the same way that if I'm true to myself and my faith that that is its own reward; when I'm not true to it, it's its own punishment."

Obama said he is a Christian but that he also draws beliefs from other religions.

"What I believe in is that if I live my life as well as I can, that I will be rewarded."

So much for Jesus' atonement on the Cross when you can just live your life as well as you can.

The man is almost impossibly arrogant, incapable of humility.

Sounds like he is headed to the Lake of Fire unless he recognizes and accepts the atoning blood of Christ as the only payment for his sins.

I don’t believe that Obama is any sort of devout Christian. Nor do I believe that he understands Christianity. Here’s why:

When he has spoken about his faith, he says he was drawn to Christianity as an adult. He said that he was drawn by tenets of Christianity such as our being our brother’s keeper, and our sister’s keeper.

Obama completely misunderstands and misrepresents the Bible story in which Cain mockingly asks God “am I my brother’s keeper”, after Cain killed Abel and God asked him where his brother was.

So, to me, for Obama to cite as his inspiration for Christianity a completely distorted version of a Bible story, in which he has missed the point of that story altogether, makes me wonder how much of Christian theology he really understands.

Anyone else notice that when Obama has said “Koran”, that he pronounces it with an Arabic inflection in the voice?

Not saying that this proves he’s really Muslim, but I do question the depth of his Christian faith. And I think he might be more familiar with Islam that Christianity, whether he considers himself Muslim or not.

Interesting, for a “Christian” he does not mention that Jesus Christ paid the price for his sin and Christ redeemed him threw the blood on the cross and it has nothing to do with what Obummer does.....Hmmmmmmmmmmm

And even better when you get to pick the values that determine what "The best you can means"! Larry Flynt is in the clear. Actually so are Mao Tse-Tong, Jim Jones, Fred Phelps, Adolph Hitler and Pol Pot.

And being a butt-boy is not a sin since being on the downlow is not out of alignment with his values.

“I set my own rules.” is basically what he believes.

He’s an arrogant fool.

Actually, depending on whether “being out of alignment with my values” means the person’s own values, or Barack Obama’s values, he might just be elevating himself to God status, which might be the one thing more foolish and stupid than the relativistic solipsism I originally assumed.

Christianity isn’t tailored to what you feel comfortable with and isn’t a smorgasbord to pick what suits your belief. It’s either believing in the word of God or not. Don’t deceive yourselves to believing “your values” or good deeds will get you there. Coming to the realization that you are a sinner and can never redeem yourself will open up your eyes to realize you are a sinner. That forgiveness and redemption will produce “the fruits of the spirit” and you will know “Christians” by their fruit. A good tree does not produce bad fruit or a bad tree produce good fruit. Don’t listen to what Obama says but what he does. Usually against any faith teachings. Read Proverbs.

This statement lines up more with Islam than Christianity.

Not that that's a shocker...

As he states above, Obama lives according to his own made-up values....and his sins are when he breaks his own made-up values.

Any pretense that he's a Christian should finally be put to rest once and for all. Values come from the Word of the Triune God and are cast in rock. Made-up human values can and do shift with the tides...and we have seen this in the ever-shifting pronouncements and actions of this evil phony the past three-plus years.

Actually, a close reading of the above shows he's his own God....but then, we've known that ever since he was immaculated, haven't we!

Like a psychopath trying to mimic empathy, or Romney trying to explain conservatism, this is a secularist trying to explain religion. It’s a mimic. Someone outside the true experience trying to sound like he is on the in. While you can have your set of values, being Chrstian comes with a non-negotiable starter set Moses didn’t come off the mount with a blank slate and say, “Here, any 10 will do”. Sin is when you offend God, not your ‘value-set’. Hopefully there is a correlation between the two, but the first condition is what matters. What if your value set sucks?
