Is it really that difficult to come up with this response to all of the ridiculous distractions in the news right now?

So long as the Republicans are running a competitive primary, the answer is yes. If the media don't try to trip up conservatives, the Republican candidates and their cheering sections will do it themselves. The Obama campaign and Democrats are simply taking advantage of the situation. Planting little bombs and pitfalls for conservatives to fall into time and time again. The contraceptive thing was just one part of that. The left knew there was actually a candidate in our field, Santorum, who actually opposes birth control. They knew the issue of insurance coverage would be overshadowed by the morality arguments. And they know this will make the GOP look like prudish old fundamentalists who are completely out of touch with most Americans on the issue.

Newt wants to talk economy, specifically gas prices.

Santorum's happy play the Dems games by getting wrapped up in birth control which is the least consequential topic possible in a 2012 presidential race. You'd think after the effective anti-woman campaign that helped destroy his senator career he'd be a little more careful with words and battles.

Get real. It’s far more important to talk about sluts than anything else in the universe.

Hey ..... The left is just warming up with those so called "Ridiculous Distractions."

Unfortunately ... even though the GOP has been fully aware of all of the intricacies and details of Democratic strategies in their twisted playbook ..... somehow the right seems to always absolutely come up short in the GOP response department. Unfortunately, this appears to be what might well be the final fatal flaw in the party.

Like I said before .... in an effort to guarantee that the real issues never make it to the forefront of debate, the left is just starting to warm up their strategic tactical playbook ...... they will soon unleash, what amounts to a powerful full on never ending maelstrom of attacks, lies, accusations, and innuendos that will keep the GOP nominees, and eventual single nominee busy well past the federal election.

I sincerely trust and absolutely hop the GOP has had the time to create a response playbook for the upcoming attacks ...... but unfortunately because of their past insipid track record ....... I think not. And this truly saddens me.

That's the problem with Santorum, he WANTS to talk about stuff like contraception - and not just about religious organizations being forced to cover it. Here is Rick promising to yammer on about this stuff even more:

One of the things I will talk about that no president has talked about before is I think the dangers of contraception in this country..

Santorum goes on to say that contraception is "not okay".

We seriously have a candidate running for President, Rick Santorum, that thinks blathering on about condoms and birth control pills are an important issue to focus on in an election that should be absolutely dominated by the economy. Oh Santorum will drift off into the evils of porn and whether women should stay home and have more babies too. All somewhat effective with a segment of the socon GOP primary, and absolute electoral poison in an actual general election where most mod/indies/sheep and young(er) votes who might give Republicans a look over economic issues but will flat out tune out any Republican nominee feeling the need to re-fight contraception wars that were lost ago settled.
