Some Sponsors Rush Away From Limbaugh’s Show
ABC News ^ | Mar 3, 2012 | Alyssa Newcomb

Posted on 03/03/2012 6:13:19 PM PST by Qbert

Four sponsors have severed ties with Rush Limbaugh’s radio show after the outspoken host called law student Sandra Fluke a “slut” and a “prostitute.”

National advertisers LegalZoom, Quicken Loans and Sleep Number along with West Coast ad buyer The Sleep Train announced this week they were pulling all advertisements.

“We don’t condone negative comments directed toward any group. In response, we are currently pulling our ads from Rush with Rush Limbaugh,” Sleep Train wrote on Twitter.

Sandra Fluke, a Georgetown Law Student, was thrust into the spotlight this week after Limbaugh called her a “slut” for her stance on a new insurance mandate that requires employers to cover the cost of contraception.

“What does it say about the college co-ed Sandra Fluke, who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex, what does that make her? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute,” Limbaugh said Wednesday.

The radio host’s comments caused customers to lobby advertisers to pull their money from the show or risk losing business.

The California-based Sleep Train has enjoyed a relationship with Limbaugh since it opened its first store in 1985.

This female claims $3000 in contraceptive costs over three years. Condoms are less than a buck each and birth control pills are less than $30 a month.

Using condoms, (safe sex and no STDs) at a buck each means she hops in bed with another somebody 1000 times a year. At 365 day per year, that is about three times a day. When did she ever have time to get a degree, unless it is fornication?

No question; beyond these advertisers; and the usual radical suspects; ignorant Republicans; as well; adding their voice to the controversey contributed to Rush's decision to apologize. The weakest of moments; for Rush to 'go there'; IMHO.

Post apology; wish Rush would tell them all; where to go. For the 'Advertisers' just a 'we don't need your 'stinkin' money' would do. And for the Repubs; they don't need his support either. For whatever 'boost' Rush has given Santorum; he gets sand thrown in return. Incredible.

Had more than hoped; that with Andrew Breitbart's death; that because of him; more Repubs would be inspired to exhibit courage per truth told re the Left; and within 24 hours; 'this'. All too disgusting a return of appreciation; or example.

So; is she going to 'run' for Office?

Clearly; she has made herself; [ - and they her - a rising star in Democrat horoscope. The fawning faces here are simply disgusting!

Can only say; in addition to not supporting those who threatened Rush with withdrawals of advertising; that all who call Georgetown, their 'alma mater'; please reconsider if you currently 'gift'; or were getting ready to send that check in.

Would say same of ANY Liberal institution as well; and for that matter. . .they are all, 'one voice'.

nstead of bemoaning the fact, it’s time for conservatives to organize their own social networks to react to the likes of Maddow, Schultz and any others who transgress.......

How many FReepers are on Twitter? Dozens of Rush listeners are canceling Cabonite and letting them know https://twitter.com/#!/search/%40Carbonite. You can do the same with Quicken Loans, Sleep Number and Sleep Train. C'mon FReepers! There are more of us than there are of them! Let them hear from you! Get in there face! Be Breitbart, Baby!

...”Media Matters and MoveOn at work”...

Anyone paying attention has to wonder about the rapidly occurring events of the past three weeks or so. Media Matters attempts to remove FOX, the mystifying death of Andrew Breitbart, the bomb scare at Rush’s house and now, the “double standard” war being waged against Rush. It would look a lot like a 1930s Berlin,Germany to those who care to research.

The “activist” rush was criticizing says that contraceptives cost $3,000 per-year. If she spends that much on them, I’m surprised that she has time for anything else. Besides, where were these critics when Bill Maher was saying even worse things about Sarah Palin?

I called and canceled my Carbonite account today. I told the rep I got their service b/c of Rush, and was canceling the account b/c they yanked advertising on Rush. I added that the reason they gave was b/c Rush called the slut a slut, but that they didn't have a problem with Schultz calling Ingraham a slut, just for being a republican. I also mentioned that they didn't have much of a problem advertising with Howard Stern, who champions the women's movement with the Anal Ring Toss game, the Porn Star Awards, and Miss Tiger Woods Mistress Beauty Pageant. I heard crickets on the other end until I was told that the guy understood.. yadda yadda.. He doesn't make the decisions, but I was going to tell somebody. I was nice about it, and I wasn't rude.

I'll be paying attention to their stock over the next few days, as Rush was probably their biggest advertising outlet.

That pic literally turns my stomach! Stretch is looking at the Fluke like a girl looks at the football hero. What is WRONG with those women?! The Fluke is wonderful because she puts out a lot? Is that it? wow

"I don’t think the name was the problem, I think when he made the comment about taking video so we can be sure she is using the product is what did him in, it smacked of porno, but no one wants to bring up that part of the comment...his slut comment was nothing, I did lift my eyebrows when he made the video comment....bad taste..."

I don't think the video part was 100% Rush's idea. It didn't surprise me when he said it because I had read the previous day something similar. Maybe Rush had read the same and expounded on it.

I don't recall what the product was, maybe it was condoms. People were to post on FaceBook where they had used the product. I was shocked when I read that. I think Rush took the posting suggestion and changed it to video taping. We all know how people looooove to post their wacky vids on utube.

I sent Carbonite my intentions of dropping them. I had to include that stupid statement of Friend about Fluke — “could possibly abide the insult and abuse heaped upon this courageous and well-intentioned young lady.——”

HUH? Has he read anything about this woman that is coming out?

If he is a liberal, then he has swallowed the kool-aid. He has been appproached and is obeying.

And some customers will rush away from the sponsors who bailed, me included. And I actually purchased their products unlike CHEAP liberals who complained and got them to drop him. Dumbasses that they are, who wants to do business with cowards who bow to such idiotic pressure.

More likely David Friend has been mixing the kool-aid and handing it out. He's a hard core Massachusetts liberal, see my earlier posting on who he gave money to in 2004. Recently, probably since he's running a consumer products company there aren't as many records of him donating to leftist causes.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the attempt to defund the Rush Limbaugh show by its liberal sponsors wasn't cooked up in a conference call with some DNC folks or Obama's campaign team. The best response is to just stop buying from those former advertisers. Why send money to Carbonite anyway, just back up your computer onto a $60.00 USB drive and put it in a safe place. Better than having every file on your PC sitting on some liberal's file server.
