It’s time to fix the Bill of Right (to guarantee us free stuff)
New York Post ^ | 03/04/2012 | Frank J. Fleming

So the Senate has voted down the effort to undo President Obama's quite reasonable mandate that all employers have to pay for their employees' contraception. I was shocked that there was a dispute about this — especially because of “religious objections.” Who knew that was still a thing?

Even worse, when I dug out a copy of the revered Bill of Rights to show someone how it guarantees everyone a right to contraception, I found no mention of that right! In fact, the Bill of Rights doesn’t guarantee anything people need — not food, shelter or even broadband internet. The only things it mentions are a few nebulous rights of absolutely no market value. It's rather pointless, really.

Why was the Bill of Rights thought out so poorly? It turns out it was written by these “Founding Fathers” long, long ago, in a much more primitive time. I'm pretty sure their first meeting to draft it was broken up by a woolly mammoth attack.

So it’s no wonder the Bill of Rights looks like it was written by a crazed, right-wing militia member living in an isolated compound. It’s all “Government can't tell me to do this” and “Government can't make me do that” and “I want to have guns.”

Obviously, we’re much more sophisticated now. We aren't like the Founding Fathers, with their primitive fear of government and thunder. We need to update this silly, archaic Bill of Rights, which puts all this emphasis on “freedom” with no mention of the much more important “free stuff.” If we don’t act, other countries will make fun of us for it — and who wants to be tittered at by Belgium?

We want a strong government that guarantees us all the things we need

I laughed out loud at this part of the article:

__________________________

I propose that we have a meeting of all the great minds (college professors, A-list Hollywood actors, people who watch “Downton Abbey”) to list everything people need — basics like food, transportation, and smart phones.

The first section — the “free stuff” section — of the new Bill of Rights will guarantee that everyone gets all these essentials. After that can come the “freedom” section of less useful rights that don’t actually give you anything, like freedom of speech (but let’s leave out the one about guns — they’re dangerous; people will shoot their eyes out).
And the brain trust will make it clear that if the “freedom” section ever conflicts with the “free stuff” part, then “free stuff” wins out.

While we’re at it, I believe everyone ( children especially ) should not have to walk barefoot on the ground.

Hey, remember, parasites can enter your bare feet.

Therefore, we need to have a new Department. Call it the DOS ( Department of Shoes ).

Its main purpose is to guarantee that everyone in America have adequate pairs of shows. Shoes for each season, shoes for every kind of weather.

Don’t think this is necessary? THINK OF WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO BAREFOOT CHILDREN YOU CRUEL SCROOGE !!

IT’s FOR THE CHILDREN !!

With such an adamant demand from the left that a healthy young woman’s “social needs” should be government sponsored and the growing influence of the gay rights contingent, I can only imagine what we might be paying for in the future with regards to sexual social ‘amenities’.

Don't forget, the reason Obama gave for saying the Constitution is a “flawed document” was that it is negative. It only says what the government can NOT DO TO the people. It does not say what the government MUST DO FOR the people. This is ALWAYS foremost in his mind. It is how he wants to “fundamentally change” this nation.

What Obama wants is similar to what he supported for the Kenyan constitution.

Its mostly rights of government with a small section dealing with the rights of the people.

Dancing will not do it with Mitt. We need to crush them to the point where they’re dizzy and incoherent. Mitt and Santorum are thier dream candidates against Obama. They fear Newt, Fear is good, fear will do it.

Obama, for the hype that he is a constitutional scholar, ought to read what James Madison, the father of the constitution said about “what the government MUST DO FOR the people.”.

Madison clearly was warning about people like Obama being in power.

Did you find the part about the govt having the right to regulate your flower garden, and force you to accept only their approved medical treatments?

Good stuff.

Mr. "I am my brother's keeper" himself dines in exquisite comfort night after night while his brother George lives in a cardboard box in Kenya on 12 dollars a month.

Or is it 12 dollars a year? I always forget.

Once Americans have been dumbed down to critical mass an Obama Presidency can happen..

And after deciding that you’ve seriously messed up, then a Romney or Santo presidency can happen..

Then; Newt and Ron Paul seem to be UnConsitutional in their platforms..

AT that time can the NEW Sodom be far away?..

It would be funny if it weren't true. Rome was doomed when the citizens discovered that they could vote themselves largess from the public treasury. We're heading down the same path.

Imagine a government so far gone that kid's sack lunches from home are searched and confiscated so the kids can eat government provided food at school. I am reminded of Vladimir Voinovich's novel Moscow 2042 where he satirizes that true communism would be achieved when primary matter (food) would equal secondary matter (feces).

“Obama, for the hype that he is a constitutional scholar...”

It’s always been nothing more than hype. People should research what he actually did regarding the law.

He has NO familiarity with the moral grounding and Christian virtues practiced by our Founding Fathers.

He has NO clue as to how ESSENTIAL such principles and virtues were understood to be...for this republic to survive and prosper.
