Too Little, Too Late for Rush Limbaugh? Republican Allies and Advertisers Continue To Desert Host Despite Apology

Conservative radio host slammed Georgetown University's Sandra Fluke Seven advertisers responded by dropping their ads on his show

By MEGHAN KENEALLY 5th March 2012

Newt Gingrich was the latest Republican presidential candidate to distance himself from the controversial radio commentator Rush Limbaugh following his tirade against a law student that he deemed a 'slut'. Appearing on a Sunday morning news program, Mr Gingrich said that it was 'silly' to suggest that Mr Limbaugh speaks on behalf of the entire Republican party, and that he glad that Mr Limbaugh issued an apology to Sandra Fluke, the woman at the heart of the debate.

Following her appearance at a hearing in support of President Obama's quest to have all employers pay for birth control through health insurance policies, Mr Limbaugh called the 30-year-old Ms Fluke a 'prostitute' and suggested that she could make enough money to pay for her birth control by posting videos of herself having sex online.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York and a fierce opponent of Mr Obama's policy, criticised Mr Limbaugh's pugnacious comments and said: 'Whatever we do, and however strongly we feel, we do it charitably, we do it civilly.'

Rant: Rush Limbaugh, 61, left called Sandra Fluke, right, a student at Catholic college Georgetown University, a 'slut' for saying religious institutions should cover birth control under health insurance Mr Gingrich's fellow candidates already responded, with each varying in their severity. Rick Santorum said that the comments were 'absurd' and Ron Paul said that they were 'crude'. Mitt Romney tried to tactfully avoid the issue at several campaign events before finally saying Mr Limbaugh's remarks were 'not the language I would have used'.

Well since no one is going to stop the left (or even say anything to defend Rush) why not?

And everyone wonders why this nation is going down the *******....

Neo-fascism/neo-totalitarianism at it’s finest, using a staged socialist event as a pretext. Mini-Reichstag moment. Watch for many more to come.

2 can play this game. DEFUND Obamerica.

Now to November. (It’s easy)

DEFUND socialism. It dies, and so do their parasites demanding free anything...including contraception.

They’ve, as in the PSM (Propaganda Streamed Media) and 0-people, have managed to make this election about sex and contraception of all things. I do not give a hoot/want to discuss, free contraception, free abortion, or whatever else the sex-obsessed Marxists want to make the issue of the year.

I want to be able to pay my bills, maybe actually get ahead by more than a week, and have some new job options. I’m concerned about the rising gas prices and the effect they will have on the aforementioned. How in the world is contraception discussion going to help MY finances?

I thought he was rather tame with the way he characterized her, as for me I am sitting here wondering why Women are even allowed to vote, considering their self admitted inability of self control, so much so that they need extra chances (abortion)in case they make a bunch of bad decisions and they want me to pay for it. ( welfare, housing, food stamps,WIC.....) If women truly are incapable of managing their own lives, and cannot control their own bodies or actions, and they are saying just that, Why Should Women be allowed to Vote??

If they are foolish enough to throw away an audience of 20 million listeners over a silly woman who is asking taxpayers to subsidize her sex life, they are too stupid to get my business. Keep a list, and start the boycott.

Probably partly due to the fact that if most people were asked about Ed Schultz, they’d say “Who?”

I forget the details, but remember when some member of Congress wrote Rush a nasty letter and Rush "auctioned" it off on his show and gave the money to some charity or cause that the writer did not support? It was a master stroke of Genius.

This time I think he should send Ms. Fluke a complimentary three-year supply of rib-tickling condoms in designer colors. And, he should issue news releases and/or a press conference to announce it.

Maybe Rush trolls FR and will pick up this suggestion.

Rush needs to stop apologizing and trust his audience. Rush has too many supporters that won’t allow him to be driven off the air.

Heck the Proflowers statement was that they were SUSPENDING ads with him. It seems pretty clear, he will be on air tomorrow, many maybe more than usual will be listening and he will be making lots of money.

Everytime I’ve thought of Rush and what he would say about a topic, he said something completely different and made me think.

This crisis is no different. The bottom line is money. He’s a money maker. Ed Schultz was not; that’s why his comment about Laura Ingrham got his show nailed.

I think this will play out within the month and we’ll be back on Romney taking the nomination as the establishment wants.

But this time I won’t write the advistors the I’m through with you note and go back to them in a year because the furor has died out. I guess I’ve reached the point when its time to join and truly fight back. The left’s tactics of selective outrage leave me cold. I’m sickened that someone like David Letterman in 2009 can make a joke involving statutory rape using a 14 year old Willow Palin as his victim yet not see his career ended. The same for Bill Mahr’s slurs on Sarah Palin.
