ROANOKE CO, Va. Tomorrow is Super Tuesday
Ten states including Virginia will head to the polls to choose a candidate for the Republican nomination.
Virginia's primary has been low key.
Mitt Romney and Ron Paul are the only two candidates on the ballot in Virginia.
Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich failed to qualify because they didn't get enough signatures.
As a result, none of the candidates have made campaign stops in Virginia and have spent very little on political ads.
Ed Lynch is a political science professor at Hollins University. He admits Republican voters aren't energized for the primary.
"We could have had three or four candidates this past weekend talking in downtown Roanoke but they didn't get the petitions signed," said Lynch.
The Roanoke County Registrar is expecting voter turnout to be between 7 & 10%.
"I looked back at primaries that we had before and in '08 at that time we h ad the Democratic and Republican primary and we had 27.6% turnout then," said Judy Stokes.
Stokes believes Tuesday's primary will be so slow, she's stationing fewer workers at the polls.
If you are planning to vote Tuesday, the polls open at 6 A.M. They close at 7 P.M.
Virginia's primary is open to both Democrats and Republicans. All you have to be is a registered voter in Virginia.
In a primary, you can't write in a candidate on the ballot.
Here is your choice in Va: Mitt Romney.
Great day to be an American eh? :)
I am going to vote for Ron Paul in hopes mitt loses VA paul
Vote for Ron Paul. He won’t win the nomination anyway, and you’ll be keeping the delegates from Romney.
every conservative in VA should vote for Ru Paul.
Virginian Voters should vote for Ron Paul as a protest vote. Low turnout could actually help make Romney look like the petulant fool that he is, keeping Newt and Santorum off the ballot.
Go Newt!
Ah, no, that’s not quite right. The choice in VA is Romney OR Paul. You may see enough of a protest vote (that being for Paul) that Romney may not get ‘winner-take-all’ on the delegates. It would be a poke in the eye for Romney & the good-old-boy-GOP-elite political machine. One can always hope.
How does it look for Radtke over Allen?
Holding my nose and voting for Roach Paul.
Holding my nose and voting for Roach Paul.Yuk!
Low voter turnout may help Paul get a few delegates. The polls are showing it as a run away but if the voters don’t show and Paul gets his brigade working he may change the results.
I’m a Virginia....and voting for Ron Paul tomorrow. I can’t stand the guy, but this joke of a primary rigged up by the state Republican party does a dis-service to everyone in the state. My humble guess is that Ron Paul might pull fifty percent of the vote tomorrow. Mitt might pick up a lot of votes here in the Arlington region, but in the southern part of the state...it’s going to be Ron Paul’s votes.
Absolutely not. The choice is Ron Paul. Anyone against Romney in VA should vote Paul. It’s the clearest signal possible.
Live in Virginia? Vote for Ron Paul; at least it will embarass the establishment-R, and may give Ron Paul an opening to actually attack Romney!
It’s good to hear Freepers voting correctly. Now if Rick and Noot would drop out nationally, we could nominate the only candidate who will end deficit spending and stop the encroachment of federal power into the lives of the citizens.
I hope RP wins big
You fit the RP profile.
If I was voting in VA tomorrow, I’d show my anger at the pols and courts for this debacle - EVERY primary where a write-in is allowed, I’d vote Newt Gingrich. Then, for president, I’d vote Paul. Couldn’t be a more plain message.
Of course, I’m voting tomorrow and I’m voting against Mitt Romney.
Now you just need to get your friends out to do the same thing!
