GM says it's only temporary -- until they figure out how to "align production with demand."

They already are, they are idling the plant.

Ya but even mobsters that sleep wit da fishes were fun wise guys at one point. What the heck is fun about a Volt, it's handling? It's Acceleration??

The Corvair was way more fun than the Volt, heck even the Fiero was....

What the Obama/General Motors Central Planning Committees really need is a nationwide contest to increase Volt awareness and thus demand.

First Prize? Why, a Chevy Volt, of course!

Second Prize? That would be TWO Chevy Volts

(Third prize would be TWO Chevy Volts, and a dinner with Kathleen Sebelius.)

0 demand = 0 production...alignment complete.

The people have spoken, and Government Motors (finally) is listening to them instead of the anti-American Marxist usurper who currently occupies the White House.

Two observations:
1) gm has been “aligning production with demand” for over 100 years
1) closing the plant has “aligned production with demand

The Volt Sleeps With the Fishes

The DNR does something like that when they want to take a fish census -- send a volt (or really a whole bunch of 'em) through the water and count what floats to the top.

I hope this isn't some kind of Gummint Motors/Census Bureau joint experiment...

"The Mackinac study's author, James Hohman, tartly described the Volt as "the most government-supported car since the Trabant" -- a reference to the infamous two-stroke, plastic-bodied POS manufactured in the old DDR -- that's East Germany, for the edification of younger readers."

Stupid East German Communists sold the crummy Trabant cheap.

Wise American Communists sell the crummy Volt dear.

GM has just announced it will be idling the plant . . . it's only temporary -- until they figure out how to "align production with demand." - Government Motors

"He smiled sadly, shaking his head. '. . . People aren’t making anything new anymore.' 'They will. That’s only temporary.'" - Atlas Shrugged

"There is no such thing as a temporary suicide." - Atlas Shrugged

Things are running by the book under this regime - unfortunately.
