NO to Legal Zoom, Quicken Loans, Pro-Flowers & Carbonite - Yes to Lifelock
he American Spectator ^ | 3/6/12 | Jeffrey Lord

Yesterday, we informed in this space of what was going on behind the scenes with the CEO of Carbonite. CEO David Friend's real actions as recorded in the books of the Federal Election Commission completely rebuked his alleged reasons for dropping Carbonite's sponsorship. His thoroughly documented connection to Ed "The Slut" Schultz, MoveOn.org and other fanatically left-wing smear groups belied his indignant words.

This is not the case with Lifelock CEO Todd Davis. What does a peep at Mr. Davis's FEC records show? Why – horrors -- the man has given money to Arizona conservative Republican Congressman Jeff Flake's U.S. Senate bid. And to the famously crime-busting Rudy Giuliani's campaign for president.

The big deal with services like Carbonite is that the backup is offsite.
If your house burns down your backups aren’t destroyed.

Also, you have remote access to the files.

The external hard drive I just bought last night enables external access to my files. Like I said above: I back up irreplaceable data and store offsite. If you think about it, for most people relatively little “data” they have is irreplaceable. You may value it, but is it really essential to life?

There are groups out in cyber space with pet ions to get rid of all of Rush's sponsors, therefor Rush himself. One of these groups is act.credoaction.com

I wish my credit was good enough to need LIFELOCK.
If someone ever stole my identity they would throw it back so fast. . . LOL
No I am not a dead beat, I have worked hard all my life. I just lost everything. I blame myself more than any one else.
ZERO hasn't made things any easier though. . . . .

Dude, if advertisers bail from Rush, then we bail from them. Simple.

HUH, you unplug the hard drive once you have back up files, pretty dumb if you leave the external still plugged in and you deserve to lose everything.

It’s pretty simple to back up files on your external hard drive, UNPLUG IT, then you have privacy and no one gets to see your files

Using a company , a,liberal one and letting them back YOUR files up and then LETTING them see YOUR files is plain stupid.

no you unplug the hard drive, why would anyone want to use a external and keep the thing plugged ion is plain stupid just like using a company to see your files.

When you use these companies you have no clue who is looking at your files.

Since I am backing up files for a small network of computers, Carbonite has been a no brainer solution. But, I have other devices in play too. My previous back up solutions had a storage limit and required me to actually insert a disc and sit there and wait for the back up to complete at the end of each week.

Carbonite saved my bacon once, but I had to hire a consultant to get my files back and it took all day. I just renewed for a year, but I’ll let them expire next time.

I’m glad to hear that Lifelock is still good I was thinking of purchasing that.

Is it really too much to stop at the neighborhood florist to pick up flowers for the one you love?

A prominent Dr.s wife was divorcing him, he couldn’t understand why she was so bitter. He said, I sent you flowers ever week. She replied, that’s one of the problems, you sent the flowers every week, never did you deliver them to me personally.

Exactly jstaff.

Just because someone says buy it makes the person look stupid, and then letting strangers see your own files which they say they have backed up is even more stupid in my eyes.

Just get the external hard drive, keep your files private and then unplug the hard drive and keep hard drive in a safe place, like a safe, etc

Never understood why anyone would use a company because a famous person states they should use, it and now look at what happens but letting strangers look at your files they have backed up for you is plain instanity

Thanks for the advice. I had no video files, just text and some pictures.

Anyway, the subscription is expired, and I am no longer with them.

I don’t use Carbonite but it was on my short list for a few of the PCs I’m responsible for.

1) off-site
2) multiple PCs at different locations
3) 12+ PCs on our home network
4) automated so I don’t have to allocate time
5) tried Microsoft’s network solution and had multiple problems
6) for church it means back-up actually happens even if people “get too busy”
7) support Rush’s sponsors
8) vendor support means friend/family aren’t calling me for help with retrieving files from their back-up

HOWEVER, I would never, never use it for my own personal files. Ever. My files don’t leave my control. Given the current climate, I no longer trust the gov’t won’t usurp yet another right and decide that my private data is their business.
