Last week’s Chick-fil-A appreciation day must have been painful to watch for David Friend the CEO that runs Carbonite a computer file backup service that was once the king of its industry. Watching how well a business that is favored by the Right can do must have ground salt into the self- inflicted wound that is still plaguing Carbonite today. On Saturday March 3, David Friend, the breast beating fool who is the CEO of Carbonite, decided he could not even wait until the following Monday to drop his company’s advertising relationship with Rush Limbaugh. Bleating about Limbaugh having correctly...

Now, as William Jacobson of the “Legal Insurrection” blog noted, Carbonite’s CEO David Friend conceded on a conference call that dropping Limbaugh deeply hurt the company’s earnings. “It turned out to be a bigger hole in our revenue than we had thought when we initially did this,” Friend said on a conference call on August 1. In fact, as Jacobson wrote, Carbonite’s 2nd Quarter 2012 results...

During the height of the Rush Limbaugh/Sandra Fluke controversy in March, software company Carbonite announced it would no longer sponsor the conservative radio host. As CEO David Friend said at the time: No one with daughters the age of Sandra Fluke, and I have two, could possibly abide the insult and abuse heaped upon this courageous and well-intentioned young lady. Mr. Limbaugh, with his highly personal attacks on Miss Fluke, overstepped any reasonable bounds of decency. Even though Mr. Limbaugh has now issued an apology, we have nonetheless decided to withdraw our advertising from his show. We hope that our...

Rush could be thankful they ditched him

Carbonite was made known to the public through advertising on Rush Limbaugh's show yet was the first and most mean-spirited of the Sandra Fluke tools to reject him when he told the truth, as usual, but used words best left to low life sewer worms like Bill Maher, David Letterman and Sargent Shultz. Unlike the rat feces listed above, El Rushbo apologized.

Question: When is a friend not a friend? Answer: When his name is David... David Friend. You may have heard the ads on the radio that Carbonite is the way to go when it comes to saving back-up copies of your computer files. Well it's not the only way to go. Take my Seagate one-hundred gigabyte back-up drive, it does everything that Carbonite does and for less. But I'm not here to shout out about Seagate nor any other storage device manufacturer...I'm sure there's other reputable builders out there. What I am here to talk about is the hypocrisy of...

There has been no measure of his listenership since the Fluke flap. But nonpartisan radio expert Michael Harrison told The Daily Caller that Limbaugh’s numbers likely are going nowhere but up — despite the anti-Limbaugh push. Harrison is founder and publisher of Talkers magazine, the industry’s leading trade journal. According to Harrison, even if all the publicity is negative, it is a “good bet that Rush is enjoying pretty high ratings” last week and going into this week. “The irony is that he probably right now has the biggest audience he’s had in years, and the double irony of all...

When Carbonite Inc. stock took a quick plunge this week, there was an obvious consensus about what caused the move: The company pulled advertising from Rush Limbaugh’s talk-radio program after the controversial host made inflammatory remarks about a Georgetown University law student. Yes, the market could have feared that Limbaugh’s fans would cancel Carbonite’s service, an online back-up solution for consumers and businesses, or mount their own boycott. Or maybe investors assumed Carbonite (US:CARB) will suffer because it will no longer have access to Limbaugh’s audience. Or it could be that investors saw in the release of the company’s Form...

One week agao, on Saturday night, March 3, 2012, Carbonite announced its decision to break off relations with its key radio endorser. It appears to have been a fateful decision. From Chuck Jaffe at MarketWatch, Don’t ‘rush’ to Carbonite shares (h/t commenter Eliot Ness): When Carbonite Inc. stock took a quick plunge this week, there was an obvious consensus about what caused the move: The company pulled advertising from Rush Limbaugh’s talk-radio program after the controversial host made inflammatory remarks about a Georgetown University law student. Rush Limbaugh has rejected an advertiser’s apparent attempt to reunite with his show after the company initially dropped its ads from the program following his remarks about contraception advocate Sandra Fluke. The company, Sleep Train, calls itself “the No. 1 Bedding Specialist on the West Coast, and most recognized mattress retailer in the region.” In an email to Sleep Train President Dale Carlsen (obtained by The Blaze), a representative of the show says that Limbaugh personally considered the company’s request, but denied it considering its public comments following the controversy. “Thank you for your requests last week and this week...

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: I want to ask if you will indulge me for just a brief few minutes for some inside baseball stuff before we move on to our review of the issues of the day, politics and so forth, Super Tuesday, the results, and where we are. The reason for this is, once again, so much misinformation about this program and advertisers is in the mainstream media. People are reporting things that, A, are not true, and B, I don't even think the people reporting it have the slightest idea what they're talking about, nor do they have the...

With cloud services now available, gone are the days of those local data backups to CDs or tape – or are they? If your business has a modest amounts of data to safeguard, then cloud services provide a convenient solution for moving a copy of your data over the web to a secure storage environment. The issue is with larger amounts of data, with some cloud backup providers like Carbonite reducing the speed at which the data is transferred. On Saturday, Carbonite CEO David Friend released a statement on his company’s website declaring that Carbonite had decided to “withdraw” advertising from Rush Limbaugh’s radio show in the wake of his controversial remarks involving Georgetown Law student Sandra Fluke because it will “ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse”: Even though Mr. Limbaugh has now issued an apology, we have nonetheless decided to withdraw our advertising from his show. We hope that our action, along with the other advertisers who have already withdrawn their ads, will ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse. However, it hasn’t done much...

I am writing to express my disagreement with your decision to stop advertising on the Rush Limbaugh show for comments he made last week. It is my understanding that he has apologized for his comments and to Ms. Fluke. Your decision to pull your advertising in such an abrupt manner was both unnecessary and provocative. I believe you overreacted and as such I cannot in good faith show my support for your biased company and your irrational decisions. I note that Carbonite still advertises on the Ed Schultz program even after Mr. Schultz called Laura Ingraham a "slut". Because of...
