"Sledgehammer": Peter Gabriel joins Rush revolt

As advertisers, affiliates and the general public continue to raise cain over Rush Limbaugh’s inflammatory comments about Sandra Fluke, another party has added his voice to the protest. A rep for singer/songwriter Peter Gabriel posted a message on his Facebook page insisting that the Brit's music no longer be used on Limbaugh’s radio show. Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer” was utilized in the background of Limbaugh’s now-infamous rant, in which he called the Georgetown student a “slut” and a “prostitute.” The Facebook message reads: “Peter was appalled to learn that his music was linked to Rush Limbaugh’s extraordinary attack on Sandra Fluke. It is obvious from anyone that knows Peter’s work that he would never approve such a use. He has asked his representatives to make sure his music is withdrawn and especially from these unfair aggressive and ignorant comments.” As of 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, the message had received more than 5,700 “Likes” on Facebook, as well as 1,200 “Shares” and 1,000 responses.

how many of these hypocrit artists showed up in NYC with cameramen in tow in order to snag an occupy photo op?

Gabriel is just desperate to sell a few more itunes.

this only makes him look like a pathetic minstrel begging for alms.

Libs on facebook are posting a pic showing:

GOOD RUSH— (the rock band)

BAD RUSH— (El Rushbo)

yuck.

That's funny because Neil Peart, drummer and lyricist for Rush the rock band has dabbled in the philosophies of Ayn Rand like objectivism and libertarianism. The GOOD RUSH is closer politically to the "BAD RUSH" than they are the libs on Facebook.

As of fact I remember that Rush the band made some nice comments about Rush Limbaugh when Rush first came on the national scene in the early nineties. I can't remember exactly what was said but Peart and Co. didn't reject Rush out of hand like a knee jerk liberal would.

I grew up in SoCal. Didn’t know they were outside of CA as well.

I liked his “Last Temptation Of Christ” albums. Interesting stuff.

Geddy Lee’s parents lived through the holocost, if I remember correctly, and so I believe he has a particular sensitivity to freedom in all its forms and facism’s effect on it.

2112 is all about individual liberty, but I think written by Neil - “We are from the galactic federation and we have assumed control....”

Gabriel was at the top of his game, and an absolute musical genius when he did Lamb Lies with those other guys, but it’s been downhill ever since imho.

I had a good friend who loved Rush (The band). I knew he was big liberal. I “complimented” him once on his Rush concert hat about how open minded he’s becoming, favoring Limbaugh like that. He got this disgusted look on his face and threw the hat into the back seat of the car he was driving. Where it stayed for months.
