A cybersecurity bill introduced by Republican Senator John McCain could dramatically expand the domestic reach of U.S. intelligence agencies and potentially give them massive troves of emails, civil liberties advocates said.

"This is a privacy nightmare that will eventually result in the military substantially monitoring the domestic, civilian Internet," said Michelle Richardson of the American Civil Majority Leader Harry Reid, the McCain bill stresses voluntary information sharing instead of regulation of critical industries by the Department of Homeland Security. McCain's bill was introduced last week.

Well at least the article states neither bill may pass. They just can’t have enough power...ever.

McCain has no respect for the constitution, especially after sponsoring NDAA, and campaign finance bill ruled largely unconstitutional by supreme court.

He is actively trying to advance a global governance agenda. NATO is using our military for their agenda with McCain as cheerleader.

Is McCain just a Soros pawn (i.e., too stupid to come up with this crap on his own), OR, does he really believe what he is doing is right — in which case he is as bad as Barry Soetoro on any given day.

I concur. Hopefully he’ll be gone from the Senate soon. Unfortunately, he may be replaced by a like minded individual.

Yep, he lost all credibility after that. Shouldn't be allowed to introduce any new bills (IMO). NDAA, is his disaster.

He called citizens concerned about the debt Hobbits on senate floor.

Too bad Teddy Kennedy isn’t still extant. Then they could have called it “the McCain-Kennedy Cybersecurity Bill,” and it would have passed with no trouble!

Then they could go out and celebrate together!

McCain is definitely a Soros pawn but I suppose he might actually think of something on his own now and then.

Bwaaahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Sorry, I tried to keep a straight face. ;^)

McCain needs to retire to a nice place with pretty white coats that have extra long sleeves.

So why did McCain create this bill? What’s his main goal with it? There has to be money or a power grab behind it - McCain doesn’t do these kinds of things on his own.

Good question....Same with the NDAA, no one was asking to give the president more powers. It passed easily by both houses.

A lot of times these naked power grabs, and they are power grabs, are done at the request of donors. Look at SOPA/PIPA. Lamar Smith wasn't doing that because he thought it was a good idea, he was doing it because he had been bought and paid for by Hollywood.

In this instance, I'm seeing too many people benefitting who could be from either side - either contractors who could make a lot of money down the road, or from those who want more power for the federal government. McCain's staff plays it off as a benign voluntary measure, but we all know how that goes. Once the camel has his nose in the tent, it's over.

Looking at some of his initiatives, they seem to be advancing a globalist agenda. He had an unpopular bill awhile back to control Supplements (UN agenda). He ran for reelection claiming he would secure the border, yet is more concerned with the middle east and NATO.
