Washington residents are up in arms, though not armed. With violent crime up 40 percent in the first two months of the year - including double the number of robberies at gunpoint - residents are looking for ways to protect themselves. Elected officials and police have no solution.

As you can see in the video below, Paul Quander, the District’s deputy mayor for public safety and justice, responded that crime victims should give the criminals what they want. Mr. Portman protested, saying, “But how do you know you’re going live and survive? You’re completely at their mercy.”
Mr. Quander thinks victimhood is preferable to self-defense. “The problem is, if you are armed, it escalates the situation,” Mr. Quander told residents. “It is much better, in my opinion, to be scared, to be frightened, and even if you have to be, to be injured, but to walk away and survive. You’ll heal, and you can replace whatever was taken away.”

That’s certainly a problem for the criminal.
I’d rather give ‘em (the crooks) what I want.
And that is a high velocity projectile in the general direction of their center of mass.
There you have it. That’s the way people like him think. The best people should hope for is live in a society full of helpless sheep being randomly killed by prowling wolves.
Then why are the police armed?
Let’s see. Rhodesia, South Africa, Detroit, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Somalia, Washington D.C., etc. etc.
I dare crooks to try to rob us in our house, BANG!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE TEXAS! It is legal to shoot and kill anyone on your property without permission. Like if they are messing with your car at night on your driveway, you can legally shoot them. And if they break into your house BANG! BAM! BANG!

Mr Quander needs to be raped. Just a quick shower and he’ll be good as new, right?
He should read the reports and see the photos of what a prison-buffed thug will do to a person.
This is what the elite (of both parties) want for us common folk. They are a bigger threat to freedom and our way of life than the Nazis ever were.
It is much better for Mr. Quander if the perp survives and walks away with your money. After all, criminals and their dependents are a major part of Mr. Quanders constituency.

If that guys daughter (if he had kids) was being raped and stabbed while he stood 8 feet away at gunpoint would he be thinking:
1) I’m helpless and I hope this ends soon. My daughter will heal and survive. “Sweetie, just do what they say, there are only two of the left and they’ll be done. Keep pressure on the wound till it’s over and when they leave we’ll go to the doctor.”
or
2) If I had a weapon and the opportunity I would kill these SOBs in defense of my daughter’s life and dignity.
Why are police armed?
That’s exactly to point.........police carry guns to protect themselves not other citizens.
Guns have two enemies........rust and politicians .

What is really obscene to me about this mind set is it not only denies the right to defense of life & property but does lead to genuine escalation.... escalation of crime. By not confronting and resisting crime you only encourge more aggressive criminal action in the future.
The man should be questioned about what criminal cartel has paid him off. He is a danger to society.
Any public official that doesn’t believe people have a right to defend themselves should be removed from office. They are more dangerous than the thug on the street
-could that kind of backwards thinking come from worrying that, since more blacks commit crimes (are the perp) in the area than whites, that the perps would get hurt...
i.e. - is the aim to protect ‘his people’, and whitey can just take his chance that he - or his girlfriend/wife - aren’t going to end up dead or raped - or raped AND dead?
Better you get just of killed than one of his people get hurt or caught?
