Rush to Rush Limbaugh STOP USING OUR MUSIC ... or Else
TMZ ^ | 3/7/12 | TMZ Staff

The '80s have come back to bite Rush Limbaugh in the ass ... Rush (the band) has followed Peter Gabriel's lead and have demanded Limbaugh stop using their music on his radio show ASAP.

Rush (the band) was FURIOUS when they discovered Rush (radio guy) was playing their song "The Spirit of Radio" as he ranted about wanting to see sex tapes of Sandra Fluke. The band got even more upset when they learned it wasn't the first time Rush (radio) has used their music on his show.

The band has since fired off a cease and desist letter to Rush (radio) ... saying, "The public performance of Rush’s music is not licensed for political purposes and any such use is in breach of public performance licenses and constitutes copyright infringement."

The letter continues, "Accordingly, we hereby demand that you immediately stop all use of Rush’s music and confirm that you will do so."

As for Peter Gabriel ... his song, "Sledgehammer" was playing on Rush's radio show when he called Fluke a "slut" ... and, shocker, Peter's pissed too.

Gabriel's rep said the singer has demanded that his music also be pulled from Limbaugh's show.

I am with them[Gabrel and the band called Rush]. He should not have been using the people that hates him work product. Hank williams Jr., Conway Twitty,Johnny Cash and plenty other Country Music stars would have been better.

If you are going to tap into the Paul Akna well, might as well use Johnny Carson’s theme from the Tonight Show. He hasn’t used it in over a decade.

Oh screw them anyway..way overrated.

Yeah, you're right. All the music critics have been saying so since 1975 or so. Never mind they still sell out stadiums and arenas all over the world. But what do those dummies who buy the tickets know? And what do the tens of thousands of musicians who consider them musical icons know? It's those critics that know what's good.

Meanwhile...these bands and performers had no problem with drugs, anonymous group sex in the 80’s....Apparently they’ve all discovered chastity, sexual abstinence and clean living...

Actually, for a rock band, Rush has been remarkably clean. I have no doubt that the guys smoked some dope, and probably still do. But they're all family guys (unfortunately Neal lost his family to an auto accident and cancer, but he's since remarried), but they're remarkably grounded and decent people.

And of course we all know how pure as the wind driven snow the band was on tour, right? Not once did any of them abuse, take advantage of, use for sex, feed drugs or alcohol to, gangbang, whatever, teenage girls (and probably underage ones too)

While I have no personal knowledge of these guys nor their actions, from everything I've ever read or heard about them, no, they never took part in the "rock star lifestyle." I'm sure they smoked (and probably still do) their fair share of dope, but anything else would be way out of character for them, based on everything I've heard or read.

They're all from working class families, and actually married quite young and they're all still married, though Neil lost his daughter in a car crash, and less than a year later, his wife to cancer, and he has since remarried.
