Breaking News: China suddenly airlifts nationals out of Syria
Debka ^ | 3-7-2012 | Debka

Posted on 03/07/2012 5:23:31 PM PST by MATSEVAH

DEBKAfile’s military sources report exclusively that a Chinese airlift began operating Wednesday night, March 7, from several Syrian airfields. It is evacuating thousands of nationals, some employed in Syria’s oil and military industries. No explanation was offered. China is one of Bashar Assad’s three backers, along with Iran and Russia. The evacuation may be prompted by early warning of an escalation of the 12-month violence in Syria or foreign military intervention.

If Debka says it's true, then China is probably sending a diplomatic entourage to Syria.

For many years, some FReepers repeatedly have educated the rest of us FReepers that DEBKAfile is worthless as a source of information, even saying it’s a source of disinformation.

Perhaps it is a really unreliable site. But if a piece of information posted on debka.com can be confirmed by other sources, perhaps that piece of information is viable.

You all know that willfully-ignorant persons without hesitation characterize Sarah Palin as a doofus and a dangerously-stupid person, and really, really bad in every way. In the same way, here on FR, some posters seem to respond to all DEBKAfile mentions the same unthinking way, over and over.

Granted, it's Reuters, but still...

It’s been confirmed by Reuters but in typical DEBKA style they inflated the story. China has pulled workers out before and this is a precaution.

Debka. Take with a big grain of salt.

I don't think I've ever seen anything come out of DEBKA that was true...

I remember that on 9/11 they said that 30,000 had died in the WTC.

Same can be said about many American news outlets and blogs. Are the continual cautions on FR about debka.com necessary or warranted?

These perpetual warnings have a reflexive-response feel to me, much like most news media and leftist blogger responses to anything Palin.

That was also said by multiple American media outlets at one point. I remember hearing “as many as 30,000” also, but it wasn’t from debka.com. It was repeated several times on ABC-TV.

“Debka. Take with a big grain of salt.”

True, but it’s being reported by a large variety of sources.

This is what China did just before Obama’s illegal War against Libya, too.

I guess it is like when I see a really juicy headline only to see it is usually from WND...then I sigh and scold myself because I fell for it again...

Sadly, FR too has it’s share of folks with size 44 coveralls and size 4 hats.

Same here. WND fell off my reliable list several years ago.
Debka.com is visited only when I’m referred to the site.

I did not start this thread that references DEBKAfile but am questioning why the quick and easy dismissal of information validity (Chinese nationals leaving Syria) only because of its sourcing.
