Reid: Democrats will kill Keystone amendment
The Hill ^ | March 8, 2012 | Andrew Restuccia

Posted on 03/08/2012 11:45:28 AM PST by Free ThinkerNY

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said Thursday that Democrats have the votes to defeat a GOP-backed measure to approve the Keystone XL oil pipeline.

"The answer is yes," Reid said when asked if Democrats would kill the measure.

"Everyone should just calm down on Keystone,” Reid added. “Just take a deep breath, folks.”

Reid’s comments came just hours before the Senate is expected to vote on an amendment to transportation legislation that would force approval of the pipeline. The amendment requires 60 votes for passage.

The majority leader stressed that President Obama opposes the GOP amendment, but does not oppose the pipeline itself.

“So the president has not come out saying, 'I oppose Keystone,' ” Reid said. “He opposes doing it in the manner that's been jammed down our throats.”

Which manner means without an insane number of handicaps and restrictions, of course. Every liberal has to nanny state this project if it goes at all, not because that makes sense, but because it looks good to their tree hugging constituents.

It sounds like the creepy, crooked little man from Stoplight, Nevada wants Americans to continue paying outrageous gas prices.

So, let me see if I have this right — Republican legislative efforts are called “jammed down our throats” and Democrat legislation is doing the work of the people.

Fox is reporting that Obama is calling every Dem senator and convincing (threatening) them to vote against Keystone.

Boy, talk about speaking out of both sides of your mouth. “I’m against it but that doesn’t mean I’m against it”.

Maybe the American Public will finally wake up to the insane actions of Democrats. Oil is a strategic necessity for our country and a pipeline with our neighbor to the North will be critical in the event of a Mideast meltdown.

“So the president has not come out saying, 'I oppose Keystone,' ” Reid said. “He opposes doing it in the manner that's been jammed down our throats.”

He opposed it. He just wanted to oppose it in a way that would please the environmentalists without alerting the union members or the consumers of gasoline. The Republicans just forced his hand to announce his decision before the election.

Even if this vote doesn't pass I welcome the chance to make the Dems stand with the president on this. The only problem is the 60 vote requirement will allow a few of them to cynically vote for the pipeline which they don't really want to pass. I bet every Dem who votes for it will be up for election this year in an at risk seat when leadership passes out the twelve (?) slots to vote for the pipeline but still have enough to kill it.

“jammed down our throats.”

More lies. Didn’t the Department of the Interior look at this thing for like 2 years, conduct an environmental study and say all was fine.

“been jammed down our throats.”

You mean like Healthcare was jammed down our throats
The left loves high gas prices, in fact, its not high enough for them, they want it to be $10+ so that the left can create the utopian society they have always wanted, everyone being forced to buying an electric car

Why haven’t Republicans started talking DOWN to anyone who questions what they say and do?

It’s years past time to start treating Rats with the same “respect” they show Republicans.

AND STOP APOLOGIZING!

The Rats NEVER apologize, even when Big Media says they do!

This bears repeating Karl.

I bet every Dem who votes for it will be up for election this year in an at risk seat when leadership passes out the twelve (?) slots to vote for the pipeline but still have enough to kill it.

Should be interesting to watch.

Barrack the Menice. A mischievious radical Marxist who somehow wormed his way into the office of the Presidency.
Starring Barrack Obama as himself.
Also starring, Uncle Sam as Mr Wilson.

Rated PG: Puke/Gag.

Harry Reid is sooooo proud of keeping America’s gas prices high.

Harry Reid is soooo proud that he is a part of keeping Americans at the mercy of Middle East oil sheiks.

Harry Reid is sooo proud he is keeping his boot on the throat of American prosperity.
