How Barack Put Bibi In the Corner [smacked Bibi around]

The President's remarks reveal he's reached new heights in psychological maturity

masterful speech at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) revealed more than his growing comfort with his own power and with the gravitas of leading the most powerful nation on earth. Moving him forcefully into the center stage of world diplomacy without relinquishing his familiar message of bipartisanship, responsibility, and a never-ending quest to improve the lot of nations, Obama’s speech was the latest in a series of behaviors that revealed a kind of psychological maturity not seen on a presidential level in recent memory.

In an interview with Jeffrey Goldberg published in the Atlantic two days before the speech, Obama revealed an attitude that only someone feeling powerful and confident could hold, dismissing war as a distraction: “At a time when there is not a lot of sympathy for Iran and its only real ally [Syria] is on the ropes,” he said, “do we want a distraction in which suddenly Iran can portray itself as a victim?” Obama’s ability to put “war talk” in its place was not only a harbinger of his AIPAC speech but also showed his clear appreciation of the literal power of language. At AIPAC, he used words as genuine weapons to confront Israel (and some American Republicans) about the danger of loose talk – almost scolding them. He asserted Presidential power in new ways, not just by urging people to search for common ground, but by setting limits.

Dr. Frank: “I only paste on this moustache when I really want to be taken seriously.” (I guess Gene Shalit left it to him in his will)

Holy carp. WHY didn't this come with a barf alert, because, well … I Barf'd.

In defense of the Original Poster, the article did come from Time magazine. That's an implicit "BARF ALERT" right there.

Of course, if you read the single-sentence abstract, it may have been too late for the barf alert.

There’s some serious two-cigarette intellectual masturbation in that article.

At AIPAC, he used words as genuine weapons to confront Israel (and some American Republicans) about the danger of loose talk . . .

And yet, NO ONE in the media commented about all the "loose talk" from liberal legislators and pundits that occurred during the Bush Administration when the U.S. was attempting to prosecute two NECESSARY wars. Talk such as Murtha calling our Marines murderers, and Kerry claiming our soldiers were behaving like Genghis Khan just to name a couple of examples.

Kerry's comparison of American troops to Genghis Khan was with reference to the Vietnam War, not the Iraq War.

He may have said things just as bad about US troops in Iraq or Afghanistan, but I don't know of any quotes.

In the event of sycophant media writing, a barf bag will automatically deploy from the overhead compartment. Please place the bag over your mouth and hurl with abandon! (This writing is so over the top, I thought it was a parody).

My comment under the article to mohammed4000 who interestingly sees that Obama is anti Jew and loves him for it. He hates Jews and say that Obama puts joos in there place. I wrote:

Seesbehindthecurtain

In your comments, unfortunately, you are right about BO's view of Jews, Islam and Christians. He is anti Jew and Christian and very pro Islam. If so many people were not so enamored with him they could easily see this. His lack of strong action against Nuclear Iran is extremely dangerous. WWIII lays just ahead if he is allowed to continue on this path and it could well cause the previous world wars to be completely dwarfed. For those who think that they love this earth it may well be close to or all together demolished as well as most or all of it's peoples. Peace through strength is what works and is recognized by the enemies of all that is good. The stakes these days are extremely high, too high to be handled with wishful thinking, false believing and a personality cult. Many may think he has a great smile and just love Obama but vast and immeasurable destruction lies on the wake of this ill fated love affair, so break it off.
