"The world is getting warmer": Romney
Reuters ^ | Fri Jun 3, 2011 | Ros Krasny

(Reuters) - Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney broke with Republican orthodoxy on Friday by saying he believes that humans are responsible, at least to some extent, for climate change.

"I believe the world is getting warmer, and I believe that humans have contributed to that," he told a crowd of about 200 at a town hall meeting in Manchester, New Hampshire.

"It's important for us to reduce our emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases that may be significant contributors."

Idiot - playing right into the alarmist’s handbook.

The question is not - NOT - whether CO2 generated by humans leads to warming - it does. The question is whether that warming is enough to make any damn difference - it doesn’t.

The question is not whether a butterfly’s wings affect the weather in Brazil, but whether it affects it enough to matter.

The worse thing about this whole episode is that it shows Romney is completely tone deaf to what matters today. It’s not burning freaking carbon - it’s restoring our freedom, cutting down the size of government, and reining in insane spending. Worrying about anthropogenic global warming moves us to policies that go in exactly the wrong direction in all three of those concerns.

>>A “Flashback” would have helped my blood pressure.<<

Yes, this is a June 2011 article. Why bring it up as though it’s new?

But it’s yet another reminder that Romney has conceded major areas of conflict with Obama. When Obama talks “green” in the general election campaign, and Romney tries to pander to the center-right by going after him, all Obama’s got to do is quote Romney’s own words back to him and say, “No wonder they’re always calling you Flip-Flop, sir.”

Or, if he stays with the sentiment in the article, we all figure, better the devil you know....at least a Republican Congress will fight Obama tooth and nail, instead of being led around by a nose ring with Romney on the other end of the rope.

With Romney, we really could get cap and trade, and Obamacare (slightly modifed) as the law of the land forever, or until the country goes belly up, which wouldn’t be all that long given present trends.

One thing that could really help would be if big Nan would push for legislation to stop all unauthorized volcanic activity. That would go a long way in slowing warming. Or is it cooling. Feels okay to me. Or maybe restrict solar flares to odd number years. Or maybe the DOE could “let” some of the warming walk across the borders. Lots of things humans can do. (Sarc off!) Good job Danae.

Basically Mama Gaia was here long before we walked here and will be around long after we are gone. Who or what will be using our remains to fuel something? And, just how many damn dinosaurs where there anyway? Hey Al, what is the exact correct temperature anyway? I know you’re comfy in your mansion.

The worse thing about this whole episode is that it shows Romney is completely tone deaf to what matters today.

The tone-deafness is what struck me. I mean, is he really so divorced from conservative opinions on global warming that he doesn't even know enough to keep his yap shut on the subject? Evidently.

I thought this happened today.

He actually said this in June of last year. Another position he’s likely not going to apologize for, I would think.

Unless he falls on his needs and begs forgiveness for Masscare, I CAN’T vote for him.

I’d rather Obama simply wreck the country and we start over as a couple of smaller ones with polarized ideologies. Florida has an Atlantic port. We don’t need the Pacific coast. It’s time. The left wants to go ‘back to the future’, a socialist state with very strong central powers, a planned economy, and arbitrated individual liberties. Let them have it. I’m not going to vote for the ‘lite’ version of it with Romney.

If I have to ‘justify’ my choice of having a gun, for example, then I really don’t have a right to own a gun. If I need a permit to speak, then I don’t have a right to speak. If the military can be used against its own citizens, then Posse Comitatus is dead. If you don’t need a warrant to bug or search my computer, then I don’t have a right to be secure in persons or papers.

Let somebody else live in that country. Let them have their dictator too. Conservatives should keep their hands clean of that particular brand of bloodshed.

Sure he doesn't.

Kind of like when he said at CPAC this year:

"I've always been Pro-Life"

Or how about when he said, also at CPAC:

"I was a severely conservative Governor of Massachusetts".

This coming from the man, who while governor of MA, supported/did the following:

1. Supported wholeheartedly Abortion.
2. Supported Gay Adoption
3. Supported Gay Marriage
4. Supported Global Warming
5. Supported TARP
6. Implemented an Assault Weapons Ban
7. Supported the Brady Bill
8. Implemented the Socialistic Healthcare system called RomneyCare.

What was your point again?

I know this has been said before, but really, it bears repeating.

If you REALLY do not want to get pregnant, KEEP YOUR LEGS TOGETHER!

Don’t go asking society to pay for your loose sexual morals. Don’t give me that whole, “sexual liberation/freedom” BS either.

Students on government funded grants, loans, scholarships etc. have no right to expect anything other than to perform ACADEMICALLY, not sexually. In other words, you are there to learn, not to get laid.

If you need medication which falls into the realm of hormone therapy, that is NOT contraception even it the means used is the “birth control pill”.

This whole DEMAND for the government to provide birth control is literally GOVERNMENT POPULATION CONTROL. Anyone else got a problem with that? I have to admit I have a BIG damn problem with it. It sounds like the damned bloody Nazi’s of the 1930’s!!!

Yes, democrats, I said NAZI’S.
