NATURALLY enough, Canadians are thrilled whenever foreigners single out their country for positive attentionespecially when the praise raises it above the behemoth to the south. The idea that Iceland might want to ditch its battered krona in favour of the Canadian dollar, not the American version, scores high in this regard. It strokes the Canadian ego and bolsters the Conservative governments line that the economy is one of the worlds strongest.

I don’t know....Maybe Iceland promises NOT to send BJORK over to Canada to sing?? LOL
Iceland, the Canadian Greece
“Iceland, the Canadian Greece”
Had to look twice at that one! LOL!
I tend to disagree with that statement. Icelanders seem willing to work for their money whereas Greeks enjoy their welfare state of a country and are having a temper tantrum because Euro can’t pay for it anymore.
Maybe you don’t remember the recent Icelandic financial crisis? It is easy to look up. I believe it was one of the largest defaults in history relative to the size of the Icelandic economy. Ask the British how that worked out for them.
That’s because the bankers scammed the Icelanders. Now those criminals are in jail and their country is actually starting to improve since things have been getting straightened out.
I do remember the recent Icelandic financial crisis and I don't think it's accurate to compare the two at all. In Iceland, the private banking system failed to meet its obligations. In Greece, the government failed to meet its.
Yes, it's terrible what happened to all those Brits who put their money in IceSave, but it certainly was not the obligation of the Icelanders to make them whole.
Loonie ping.
IIRC, the banking scammers had a direct connection to Britain. Nothing like a good lot of chaps from Old Blighty taking Icelanders for a ride! LOL!
Iceland banks’ fraud trails ‘lead to UK’

Leading Icelandic prosecutors met members of the Serious Fraud Office in London today , underlining the strong British dimension in mounting evidence of widespread and substantial frauds exposed in the Nordic nation’s dramatic banking meltdown 11 months ago.
Special prosecutor Olafur Hauksson, who is leading a specialist unit set up to investigate financial crimes emerging from last October’s banking collapse, said he was unable to talk about individual cases, but “a lot of roads lead to the UK”.

Dude, it was more a pun than anything else, but good luck to the Canadians getting tangled up in that banking system.
OK, I get it now. We call 'em Canada geese around here. Flew right over my head.
The Loon is a bit smaller than the Canada Goose.
I has a distinctly different set of cries than the Canada Goose, one of which is somewhat haunting. Another of its cries sounds a bit like a maniacal laugh, hence the name.
The Loon is a diver. I would see them them disappear when I was coming in to land on a lake and the aircraft frightened them.
The two dollar coin is called a Toonie. This even though the obverse has a picture of a polar bear standing on an ice floe barely big enough to stand on.
