Mitt Romney's weirdness means he can't connect with American voters (Mitt's bizarre bug-squash...)
Telegraph UK ^ | 3/10/12 | Tim Stanley

-snip-

Romney delivers every emotion – anger, humour, sadness, elation – in the same giddy voice of a carpet salesman who’s only got ten seconds before you close the door in his face.

On Friday, he swung down South and affected love for the region. He called himself an “unofficial Southerner” because he's eaten grits and learned out to say “y’all.” Then there was a truly bizarre moment when, in the middle of admitting that he knows nothing about agriculture, he broke away mid-sentence to crush a bug beneath his foot. He said, “Oh look at that, look at that little guy, there. Got him.”

“To win in November Americans and the GOP candidate’s campaign must attack the media’s bias and answer media caricatures by fighting fire with fire. They will not win by empowering the Media, by joining in it these attacks in the GOP primary when it favors their candidate.”

Amen.

There are a number of similarities between Romney and John Kerry:

1. They both seem somewhat socially awkward and and have difficulty "connecting" with the average person.

2. They both are wealthy and own a lot of houses.

3. They are both known for making statements about their involvement in past activities that may not stand up to detailed examination.

Lord help us if he's the nominee.

You might just want to get used to the idea because unless a meteor strikes the earth he's probably it.

"Romney is just too weird. Lord help us if he's the nominee. "

I've always found him odd and distant. I have no problem with his Mormonism, but in a backhanded sort of way, I wonder if my reaction is subconsciously based on the fact that he seems to crave acceptance, hoping people will think of him as normal. This is a common trait among religious people of minority faiths (including my own). Mitt seems to be uptight and working extra hard at being normal, to the point it becomes "abnormal."

He said, “Oh look at that, look at that little guy, there. Got him.”

Did he baptize it afterwards?
