Treasury probes Rendell over speeches for Iranian dissidents
The Washington Times ^ | 3/9/12 | Guy Taylor

The Treasury Department’s counterterrorism arm is investigating speaking fees paid to a long-time Democratic Party leader who is among the most vocal advocates of an Iranian opposition group designated as a terrorist group by the State Department.

Former Pennsylvania Gov. Edward G. Rendell told The Washington Times that Treasury investigators last week subpoenaed records related to payments he has accepted in exchange for public speaking engagements.

Mr. Rendell is among a bipartisan group of prominent former officials - including Cabinet-level Republicans - who have accepted payment in exchange for speeches calling for the removal of the Mujahideen-e Khalq (MEK) from the State Department’s list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations.

A source familiar with the payments told The Times that a public figure of Mr. Rendell’s stature receives “in the ballpark” of $20,000 per speaking appearance.

Read the article. Rendell is a hero here. He is defying the US government’s support of the pro-radical-terrorist Iranian government, and he is advocating for Iraqis who fought against Iran and are now left defenseless thanks to Obama’s withdrawal from Iraq.

The EU lifted the terrorist designation from this group 3 years ago, but because the US maintains it they are not able to get sanctuary elsewhere and so are at high risk of being tortured and murdered.

The US government is shutting down dissent and trying to intimidate Rendell by attacking him for his support of these people.

Political payback for Rendell being a Hillary supporter in 2008.

I was disgusted to find out some of the people who spoke for MEK at rallies and I hope they’re punished. BTW - not listed in the article, was John Bolton.

Here’s a more complete list...

Notable Washington insiders who have been tapped to speak on MEK’s behalf include Louis Freeh, former director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation; former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Hugh Shelton; former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean; John Bolton, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations; Gen. Wesley Clark, retired former NATO supreme allied commander; Ed Rendell, former Democratic governor of Pennsylvania; Rudolph Giulani, former mayor of New York City; Porter Goss, former director of Central Intelligence; Lee Hamilton, former co-chairman of the 9/11 Commission; retired Gen. Michael Hayden, former director of Central Intelligence; and Bill Richardson, former governor of New Mexico, among others.

You seem very confused.

MEK is an Iranian cult, not Iraqi. They’ve been living in exile in Iraq, because they helped Saddam kill their own people. They are despised by Iranians, as they are seen as traitors, so don’t believe the propaganda that they have lots of support in Iran...They Do Not.

I suggest you read up on them...here are a few links to some excellent articles...

Just had to make sure the Republican Party got smeared. Glad they didn't forget.

Zero is working for the mullahs while pretending to get us all set up for a war to liberate Iran.
