ROMNEY FAVORS PACT BY STATES ON EMISSIONS - [CAP-N-TRADE]
Boston.com ^ | November 8, 2005 | Scott Helman

Governor Mitt Romney signaled his support yesterday for a regional agreement among Northeastern states to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, despite opposition from power companies and other business interests that have been lobbying the administration against the plan. In opening remarks to a clean-energy conference in Boston, Romney said the first-of-its-kind agreement, under which Massachusetts and eight other states could be required to cut power plant emissions by 2020, will not hurt the economy, as some have charged. He argued that it would spur businesses to develop clean- and renewable- energy technology to market worldwide. "This is a great thing for the Commonwealth," Romney said, his strongest endorsement of the pact to date. "We can effectively create incentives to help stimulate a sector of the economy and at the same time not kill jobs." But some companies are worried that the emissions agreement would send energy prices even higher and make Massachusetts less friendly to business, so Romney's overall support for the initiative could add another wrinkle to his checkered relationship with the corporate community. "I would certainly hope that the administration would rethink where they're heading on this," said Richard C. Lord, president and chief executive of Associated Industries of Massachusetts. "We think there will be some serious negative impacts on the business climate here."

More proof of the absolute depravity of Mitt Romney where telling the truth is concerned.

Doesn’t understand wealth and how it’s created.

Surprising, really.

It’a always one step forward with Mitt and 1 step back (if he’s lucky).

Moleface entered Michigan into one of these pacts several years back and its led to ever upward spiraling electric bills.

While looking for info on these interstate pacts I found this site about the hydrogen superhighway.

Trust me, this one will cause all to laugh out loud.

An Internet friend responded to my recent email re. Romney’s past tilts to portside by observing that we have no choice but to support him if he is the nominee. While I want Obozo to go away ASAP, as of this writing, it’s not looking all that good.
My somewhat expanded reply follows.
The Obama smear machine will tear Romney to shreds. Here’s the narrative:
MR’s past and current positions are similar/identical to mine. You gonna vote for a rich, white pubbie over the first black president? A rich, white pubbie who was born with a mouth full of silver spoons who makes snap bets for 10K on TV and tells unemployed workers that his wife drives “...several Cadillacs...”? You gonna vote to send me away after I hiked your welfare benes? (Almost 50% of Americans are receiving those benes.) And the Dem’s will make sure ALL those supporters will get to the polls and, along with millions of illegals and the departed, vote early and often. (It’s the Chicago Way.)
And because the choice is between Obozo and Obozo Lite, a lot of the less committed and uninformed otherwise conservative voters may sit it out.
We need a clear CHOICE. We don’t need the establishment GOP favorite shoved down our throats by the same Beltway jerks who, according to Palin, REFUSED to allow her to expose Obozo’s marxist past in ‘08. That situation is but more evidence of the truth of some gallows humor popular with fellow cynics that the Dems want socialism NOW while the pubbies are content to wait a few days. The bad news from ‘08 is that the GOP establishment has become impatient.
With the MSM covering for Obozo again and the bulk of the electorate either ignorant of or supporting the dismantling of this nation, we’ve got trouble right here in River City.
I’m not sure this fight can be won — or even worth the effort. It now seems that fight will almost certainly move to a new and more “kinetic” level. This WILL get ugly.
All that said, I and many of those I know will NOT allow these treasonous criminals to steal the birthright so many others died to defend.
I guess we’ll see you at the polls. If that fails, it’s on to the barricades (figurative or literal) to carry on the fight the other side started.
“To every man upon this earth Death cometh soon or late. And how can man die better Than facing fearful odds, For the ashes of his fathers, And the temples of his Gods,”

NOTE: This article is over six years old.

I'd be more interested in what Mitt thinks today. Has he changed his mind? And how would we know?

First of all the article is 8 years old. Second of all when it came time to sign the bill, he didn't because of adverse economic impact.

If your going to post the pro-Santorum campaign line, please be up to date and accurate. On this part of Mitt's record, Rick is false.

So, Mutt wanted to do Cap & Trade 8 years ago but the business community talked him out of it?

So we should just give him a pass?

There is an old saying about the Leapord and his spots...

Maybe he changed his mind and maybe he didn't about global warming,
Maybe he changed his mind and maybe he didn't about state or federal run health care,
Maybe he changed his mind and maybe he didn't about abortion,

Mitt Romney change we can believe in.

Maybe?

The problem with Romney is that trying to figure out what he truly believes is like trying to read road signs while driving in the fog at night without headlights. He obscures with platitudes in order to avoid clarification with examples.

And we're supposed not merely to vote for Mr. Inevitable, we're also supposed to be enthusiastic, unapologetic, evangelizing in favor of this horse-hockey? I'm sorry folks, as long as there's even a hint of an opportunity for someone else to get the GOP nod I can't get the bad taste out of my mouth, the smell, the plain ass-hattedness of this "swell" out of my otherwise spacious tent.

If not a "brokered" convention, then what other reason is there for a convention? It's a media event, then? Move the convention forward, save the candidate some serious money and put that into purchasing some perception.

If the man can't lead, he can't lead...

Can't for the life of me figure out why the RINO establishment wants to foist someone on the party who makes Michael Dukakis look conservative by comparison.

They both had the same job, but only one did as much liberal, legislative damage in one state, in the same amount of time, as Obama has done nationally.
