I think declaring the “end of sex” is a little like declaring the “end of history”: such proclamations should be taken with a large dose of skepticism.
That being said, I do think that the availabilty of unlimited amounts of porn is having an effect on the American (world?) libido. It serves to desensitize because the thrills you can get from watching it might exceed one’s own performance in real life. I think this applies more to men than to women.
And the impact of technology on the libido is justin its infancy. It is just a matter of time before we master the mind-computer interface. And then, watch for people to download intense sexual experiences right into their heads—perhaps to the degree that you can’t tell it from reality. It’s Sci-Fi for now, but probably not for long. And when that happens....watch out!
That’s a discussion that goes back before even the alt.2600 days and Mondo 2000. The second that actual ‘cybersex’ becomes reality society as we know it ends. What results is anyone’s guess, but when you ban download sex with the ‘star’ of your choice into the brain and have an indistinguishable from real experience, most things like dating/marriage et all the money associated with it becomes unneeded. Birthcontrol is toast. most stds eliminated in short order. When you add it all up, it’s incredible.
Populations fall drastically as do the needed support structures..

you see, a guy sitting in front of his computer and inbibing porn from females that have siliconed up and then pleasuring themselves is just so damn easy, no fuss, no money, no having to be nice and interesting and charming...no having to comb your hair or brush your teeth...
you don't even have to make yourself into something great....the plain old you who flips hamburgers can just continue.
I feel sorry for girls....they'll dress up in their short dresses, with the high heels, just to go to the local casino bar, with their girlfriends, and I wonder, who the hell are they going to attract?.....its not a pretty sight, such behavior...
