The New York Times/CBS News poll showed Mr. Santorum commanding a lead over Mr. Romney among several important groups that he has done well with in a number of primaries thus far. Mr. Santorum leads among Tea Party supporters by 40 to 21 percent, conservatives by 43 to 24 percent and evangelical Christians by 47 to 22 percent. Mr. Romney continued to get support from moderate and nonevangelical voters and college graduates.
Mr.Santorum also led 41 to 27 percent over Mr. Romney among women, while men were more evenly divided.

KEYWORDS: elections; newt4romney; romney; santorum; teaparty
Headline says they are tied, but you can see in the article that the numbers are vastly different when you look at conservative voters. Santorum can get the conservative base enthused about an election for a change if the GOP is smart enough to make him the nominee.

A great deal of Romney's support is from liberals who will vote for Obama in the fall. Santorum has large leads among conservatives.

This is proof positive that Santorum alone has the winning combination to beat Obama in November. Unfortunately in a three-man race he gets edged out in key contests like WA, MI, and OH because of a divided anti-Romney vote.

Mr.Santorum also led 41 to 27 percent over Mr. Romney among women, while men were more evenly divided.I find this very surprising. I thought the standard media narrative was that Sanrorum could never win over women because they feared he might take away their birth control pills or whatever.

Santorum brought out the fact that Romney is outspending him 10-1 and still cant close the deal (including states where Romney is SUPPOSED to do well in).
But if Newt doesn’t drop out, it will probably be Romney.

" But if Newt doesnt drop out, it will probably be Romney. "
Newt is Romney's stalking horse by just staying in, and so are his supporters and I don't care who they say they are.... they are misguided.
Newt has even said that he would stay in even if he were to lose both states tomorrow... so that there shows you that he is in it for Romney and nothing else.

“Newt has even said that he would stay in even if he were to lose both states tomorrow..”
Unbelieveable.
