Former Sen. Arlen Specter (Pa.) writes in a new book that President Obama ditched him in the 2010 election after he helped Obama win the biggest legislative victory of his term by passing healthcare reform.
Specter also claims that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) did not uphold his promise to grant him seniority accrued over 28 years of service in the Senate as a Republican.
Specter, who rocked Washingtons political establishment and made headlines around the country when he left the Republican Party to join Democrats in April of 2009, has kept quiet about these slights until now ...

Arlen: “I just want to be held now” obama:”Hey, thanks for that uhh, you know, vote on health care....mmm, better put some ice on that”
Arlen is a useful idiot in the exact original meaning. Honestly, obama saw that and took advantage as any true Machevillian would. Arlen shot his load and no one will trust him ever again, not ever the voters.

Well, at least Specter enjoyed Santorum’s support, being a team player and all....

Why keep up this off-topic nonsense? Specter defected well AFTER that endorsement.
Santorum backed him for three basic reasons:
1 and 2. Bush and Rove, more respected back then, said that they needed him to keep their numbers up. They also said they needed him to confirm more conservatives SCOTUS candidates. Specter had already done a great job pushing Clarence Thomas through, although for his own reasons, and after he was re-elected he pushed through two more great conservatives, Roberts and Alito, before he turned traitor. At least he kept his word on that, and he was one of the few Senate chairs in recent times who has managed to push through any real conservative judges over Democrat tricks, press demonization, and Republican spinelessness.
3. It was tough for conservatives to get elected in that state, and Specter had helped Santorum earlier by endorsing him when he ran. It probably made the difference.

Well, yes, he did. He also gave Bush and Rove the assurances. It was in the press at the time. Frankly, I thought he might be lying, and I was against the whole thing, but he did keep his word on that.
