SOLDIER MURDERS AFGHANS, GENERALS MURDER SOLDIERS: It Was Only a Matter of Time...
Family Security Matters Foundation ^ | March 13, 2012 | Ralph Peters

Right now, our troops are being used as props in a campaign year, as pawns by dull-witted generals who just don’t know what else to do, and as cash cows by corrupt Afghan politicians, generals and warlords (all of whom agree that it’s virtuous to rob the Americans blind).

What are our goals? What is our strategy? We’re told, endlessly, that things are improving in Afghanistan, yet, ten years ago, a U.S. Army general, unarmed, could walk the streets of Kabul without risk. Today, there is no city in Afghanistan where a U.S. general could stroll the streets. We may not have a genius for war, but we sure do have a genius for kidding ourselves...

What is Obama's policy?

Defeat.

That's clear from the failure to negotiate a status of forces agreement with Iraq and to hand the country to the Iranians and it's clear from his policy of buggering out in Afghanistan as soon as he can arrange a face saving 'unity government' with the Taliban that will stand just long enough for us to withdraw.

Afterwards, the US military will be sufficiently crippled with budget cuts and politically correct asshattery that it cannot act effectively in the nation' s defense.

Then 0bama and his commie pals in the media will proclaim, "Mission Accomplished!"

When I retired from the AF in ‘75, Staff Sergeants were E-5. Probably different for the Army.

I’m more aware of an alternative history of how Churchill was viewed by the Brit citizenship and it is not flattering.
Check out Hoover’s new book for more about Churchill, FDR and Stalin during WW2, ‘Freedom Betrayed: Herbert Hoover’s Secret History of the Second World War and Its Aftermath’.

I read the soldier had a brain injury in 2010.....will be interesting to see if that affected him .

However after all the time he’s served I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a severe PTSD happening. His beavior by going house to house...crouching down as if looking for the enemy etc., which the Aphgans stated he did... would indicate he was “triggered”.

PTSD can and will manifest itself as such...and the individual truly believes he’s in the place his mind has “pictured” and therefore his behavior can follow....

My understanding also is PTSD is on varying levels of impact. Some of which can be controlled...to that which cannot and needs hours of mental work with a professional to get these “triggering” events under control.

Regardless of his mental condition....the fact he turned himself over immediately after the happening tells me that at some point he came out of “his head” and saw the reality of what was around him. Very sad for this soldier and he should not have to face trial for this IMO.

Doughty, I'm convinced the guy was suffering from severe PTSD....the fact the Afghans said he was crouching down as if searching for someone and his behavior would indicate this...what ever he was experiencing in his head, pictures, sounds, smells etc. he was playing out.. but not realizing the reality of his surroundings were not as his mind was dictating.

I can certainly believe at some point in his state he “woke up” and his mind cleared....and understandable would turn himself in. I doubt it was a pleasant scene when he did, and he probably scared, shocked and in a terrible state emotionally as would be expected.

I am certain the medical teams will be taking good care of him now and along the way help him overcome. But he will be scared surely for it all.

Unfortunately the political fallout from this is going to play itself out...and the Afghan people will not have any other understanding of this then that a US Soldier massacred their people. Very sad situation overall....

It is a sad situation overall. No doubt about it.

Earlier this morning they were playing him as a guy that had a serious brain injury from a previous tour. Actually, the guy only suffered a “mild, I believe it was” concussion from a truck roll-over, not at all as advertised.

He’s supposedly not cooperating now.

This sounds like a very calculated incident to me. He was attacking the same family over three home sights if reports are accurate. How would he know the family stretched over three homes?

We’ll see if the early reports hold up.

If he was experiencing PTSS he could have triggered off a flawed logic process I suppose. I earlier proposed that he might have had a reason related to one of his buddies suffering injuries inflicted by that family.

It would seem there must have been some cause connected to this, even if it was a flawed perception.

I’d sure like to know what his thoughts were.

ranks are different in Army and AF. In AF, E5 is Staff Sergeant, in Army E-5 is just plain Sergeant with Army E-6 being Staff Sergeant.

So would I.....which I'm certain the military medical staff has more than an inkling ,but at this point all we can really do is speculate based on the information coming out, and there's just no way to confirm that....especially since it's doubtful we'll hear the real story with the political issues playing out and so high currently.

It''s been said he's been moved out of Aphganistan but even thaat might be questionable if Karsi has anything to say about it. Seems to me he's calling the shots as we see Obama is ranting once again about it.....disgusting Obam could not have demanded the same thing, and with the tone and determination he's showing, when our guys got hit at Fort Hood. He's such a despicable person!
