Against the backdrop of gasoline prices rising in an election year, a new Obama administration report cites "significant progress" in reducing foreign oil imports and increasing domestic oil and gas production.

The report by six federal agencies was released Monday on the first anniversary of a speech by President Obama in which he pledged to reduce American dependence on foreign oil imports by a third in about a decade.

According to the study, the United States reduced net imports of crude oil last year by 10%, or 1 million barrels a day. The U.S. now imports 45% of its petroleum, down from 57% in 2008, and is on track to meet Obama's long-term goal, the administration maintains.

Just keep destroying the jobs and forcing the shutdown of job creating energy plants and we will see your goals of oil usage achieved sooner than you think, 0bama.

we're going to run into a critical shortage if we don't pursue more drilling. We have to start realizing that if these muslim countries team up, we're in ds.

Iran, Pak & Afgh are on the verge of "team play".

Yup, we’re right on track alright. Casey Jones Obama has it full throttle, and the bridge up ahead is out.

What’s interesting are the comments. Either they are all by freepers or even people in LA are finally seeing the light.

Was that supposed to be a news article or a WH press release? We have 2% of the world’s reserves? Taken directly from a Barry speech and is not true.

.. in which he pledged to reduce American dependence on foreign oil imports by a third ..

.. by crippling domestic energy production, spiking fuel prices to make the cost of discretionary travel prohibitive, thereby meeting the stated 'goal'.
Voila !

today gas prices in Somerset County Pennsylvania hit $3.86 a gallon..

when one station goes UP they all follow suit..no matter if the gas under ground is a month old or a day old..this is a small rural community, yep the one Rick Santorum began his Presidential bid on the County Court House steps.. says his grandfather was from this area so he wanted to begin here..what a pile of B.S. he is spreading..

this county is farm country, and the population has many retired senior citizens trying to survive. Obama is giving out food stamps for some and tells others you make too much money...like a hundred a month to much!! the guy is the worst thing ever to have struck America...

A U.S. Geological Survey assessment, released April 10, shows a 25-fold increase in the amount of oil that can be recovered compared to the agency’s 1995 estimate of 151 million barrels of oil.
