“...a portion of Newt's votes might stray to Romney.”

What an incredible understatement!

The way many of Newt's supporters hate on a true conservative like Santorum shows a heck of a lot more than “a portion” are closet Mittbots—Better Mitt than Rick to them and they are using Newt's selfish recalcitrance as an excuse to help get Romney nominated.

Sophistry abounds about Newt's grand scheme to hang on til the convention even though he lost lost lost.

OK, so nobody has the 1144—Newt has pulled his Perot and kept both Rick and Mitt from reaching that goal so now it's Tampa time.
First ballots don't solve anything so the delegates are released to pick Newt, Palin, Rubio whatever...right?
Wrong! The GOP-e will be making the rules as they go along and like 1976, they will anoint Romney just like they did Gerald Ford over Ronald Reagan. They have too much invested in Mendacious Mitt to let a silly conservative majority stand in their way.

Why do you think super RINO of color Michael Steele is so looking forward to a brokered convention—he and the GOP-e know the plan and they are laughing at their useful idiot from Georgia.

I listen to the Quinn and Rose show streaming from a Pittsburgh FM station and you wouldn't believe the ugly, nasty and disingenuous smears coming from the Gingrich campaign AGAINST RICK SANTORUM!

It may as well be Nitt and Mewt.

No, the Virginia primary demonstrated that even when Mitt has no opposition of any consequence Newt's and Santorum's followers DO NOT VOTE FOR Mitt.

Besides, no one hates Santorum. Just that he's not sufficiently Conservative for some.

You'll have to get with him and straighten him out on some things ~ like ALWAYS voting for a balanced budget ~ which seems like a little thing to some but it's actually big time to a critical component of the Republican voting base.

LOL at your post on Newt supporters hating a “true” conservative like Santorum as you expand on calling Newt “selfish and an idiot”
Newt is certainly not happy with the multi million dollar attacks and lies launched against him by the Romney campaign and neither are the Newt supporters.
Too bad you are unable to grasp the fact that many of us support Newt because we believe in him. We know of his accomplishments and we are not convinced Santorum is presidential material.
Just because he got a free pass for so long and the vetting of RS didnt even begin until late in the game..doesnt mean we are going to jump on his bandwagon.
As for me...I will do a write in for Newt but no to Santorum. If the voter’s want Santorum..let him win on his own merits..not on the chance that the Newt folks will rally behind him. He already won ONE election thanks to Newt’s gop revolution. He is on his own.

There is a difference between hate and frustration. I’m a Newt guy and I do not hate Santorum. I just think he has hurt us by allowing the Debate to become about abortion and contraception. We had control of the White House, Senate and House and we STILL have abortions. And, nobody gives a damn if a high school kid buys a condom at the gas station this weekend. Rick is coming across like the Pat Robertson of the 21st Century. And, while we agree with his social values, those things are not what this race is about.
