Televangelist preacher Jamal Bryant vowed to “shut down Florida” at a rally on Wednesday to demand justice for slain Miami-Dade teen Trayvon Martin.
“This is a wake-up call for the state of Florida!” Bryant said. “We are going to shut Florida down until justice weighs down!”
The Baltimore preacher and leader of the Empowerment Movement spoke at a rally at the Allen Chapel in Sanford in response to the Feb. 26 killing of the Michael Krop Senior High school student.
Black leaders are vowing to bring at least 1,000 protesters from around the country to a March 26 city council meeting if charges are not filed in the case. The protesters, he said, should bring bags of Skittles like the candy Trayvon carried when he was gunned down after a fight with a stranger.
Trayvon was visiting his father and his father’s girlfriend in a gated community when the homeowner’s association neighborhood watch volunteer spotted him and thought he looked suspicious. The two tussled and guard George Zimmerman opened fire, killing the unarmed boy.
Zimmerman claimed self defense and has not been arrested. The case was referred this week to the state attorney’s office in Sanford for review. Police Chief Bill Lee said there was no probable cause for an arrest.
Because the boy is black and Zimmerman is widely believed to be white, the teen’s family and many activists believe Trayvon was racially profiled. However, Zimmerman is Hispanic.

It stretcheds the imagination that the kid, Martin attacked Zimmerman who was in a vehicle and armed. Being an community watch doesn't give an individual any powers to arrest(harass) an individual whose only suspicious activity was walking home armed with a can of coke and a bag of skittles.
If an armed, aggressive Hispanic man followed and harassed you, what would you do?
i am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment but with this right comes responsibilities. He did not see any crime in progress(unless walking while young and black is a crime) This man was told by the cops to back off and he refused and shot this boy literally at his father's doorsteps.
In no way is self defense in the classical sense.

Zimmerman quite famously got out of his car. Also, there is no information indicating that Martin knew Zimmerman was armed when their encounter with one another became physical.

I don’t think we have enough facts yet to come to a conclusion. The media is biased and the case is politically charged.
Read up on gang wars in CA. Right now blacks and brown people are killing each other for one reason. The color of their skin.
1)Zimmerman as an neighborhood watcher called in “an suspicious person” to 911 and was told by police “to let us handle this
2)Zimmerman ignored this and left the safety of his car and followed Martin despite the police telling him not to.
3) Up to this point Martin was unarmed and had done nothing illegal
4) An confrontation ensued between Zimmerman and Martin.
Martin was fatally shot.
5) Neither Zimmerman's life nor property nor anyone’s elses life/property were in danger until Zimmerman injected himself into the situation.
6) Neither the Castle doctrine not the Stand Your Ground law allows for the lethal use of firearms where life is not in imminent harm.
Had Zimmerman followed the 911 operator’s instructions to let the police investigate this situation, Martin would still be alive and nobody outside his neighborhood would ever have heard of Zimmerman's name.
I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and of open/concealed carry laws. It is this reason why I strongly condemn the abuse of the right to own and bear arms as it is apparent in this case. IMHO
We who appreciate this precious right must admit to ourselves that not all persons who do carry are not responsible owners. Unless we condemn those who don't we ourselves risk being counted with them as "gun nuts" by anti-gun forces.

As in the motto of their Dear Leader:
“Never let a crisis go to waste”
That's what really bothers me about this whole incident. Not one single person in the MSM has bothered to obtain a copy of the investigative report which determined that Mr. Zimmerman was not guilty of any wrong doing.
And the MSM has also neglected to investigate whether or not Trayvon Martin has a history of infractions with the local police department. Of course, if it was discovered that Mr. Martin did have ties to any gang related activities then that could possibly throw a wrench into the whole "hang Zimmerman" agenda........
I keep getting the impression, that despite the complete lack of evidence, that many Freepers are convinced that Martin is a hardened gang member who has spent several years in juvie hall and has several killings under his belt.
The only possible explanation in their minds is that the only possible reason that Martin reacted is that he was up to no good and Zimmerman was a saintly Hispanic who did nothing wrong.
It does concern me that, in the minds ofbthese same Freepers that the only possible path for all, or seemingly all black youth is a life of crime.
So where is the investigative report? Under the FOI it’s available to anyone in the media willing to ask for it.......What are they afraid of finding in that report?
Do you also believe that independent bloggers are also afraid of reporting the findings?
