British government denies rights of workers to wear crosses

Christians have no right to wear cross at work, says Government Christians do not have a right to wear a cross or crucifix openly at work, the Government is to argue in a landmark court case.

In a highly significant move, ministers will fight a case at the European Court of Human Rights in which two British women will seek to establish their right to display the cross. It is the first time that the Government has been forced to state whether it backs the right of Christians to wear the symbol at work. A document seen by The Sunday Telegraph discloses that ministers will argue that because it is not a “requirement” of the Christian faith, employers can ban the wearing of the cross and sack workers who insist on doing so. The Government’s position received an angry response last night from prominent figures including Lord Carey, the former Archbishop of Canterbury. He accused ministers and the courts of “dictating” to Christians and said it was another example of Christianity becoming sidelined in official life.

From the Telegraph article:

Andrea Williams, the director of the Christian Legal Centre, said: “It is extraordinary that a Conservative government should argue that the wearing of a cross is not a generally recognised practice of the Christian faith.

“In recent months the courts have refused to recognise the wearing of a cross, belief in marriage between a man and a woman and Sundays as a day of worship as ‘core’ expressions of the Christian faith.

"What next? Will our courts overrule the Ten Commandments?”

The short answer: yes, if we allow it...and don't think that because this is happening in faraway, socialist England that 'it can't happen here' because it can and will unless Americans stop it.

We really need to write to the Queen on this one.

Here’s the instructions from the Royal.gov.uk site:

You can write to Her Majesty at the following address:
Her Majesty The Queen
Buckingham Palace
London SW1A 1AA

“If you wish to write a formal letter, you can open with ‘Madam’ and close the letter with the form ‘I have the honour to be, Madam, Your Majesty’s humble and obedient servant’.

This traditional approach is by no means obligatory. You should feel free to write in whatever style you feel comfortable.”

So basically, HEY QUEENIE - GET YER ROYAL HEAD OUT OF YER ROYAL ARSE AND STRAIGHTEN OUT YOUR NATION! is OK

European Court of Human Rights It sounds like they already gave up the right to even make that decision in their own court

Yet their national anthem is “God save the queen”. Go figure.

Ever notice how much corrupt politicians fear God even though they are always telling us how he doesn’t exist?

Frankly, the British Conservative Party is dead, and the corpse is rotting. Maggie Thatcher was the exception, but there hasn’t been a good Conservative leader since MacMillan forced her out of office and took the party back.

No surprise to see David Cameron sucking up to Obama at his recent visit to the White House, and ignoring the Republicans. I had some hopes for Cameron when he first came into office, but they are completely gone.

If they have no right to wear crosses, then they have no right to wear open collar shirts, or let their hair or ankles show, or do anything other than the prevailing government demands.

It’s not the queens policy, or authority. This is an act by parliament. It’s the parliament you should write to. The Queen is only a figure head, she really does not wield any real power in comparison to the parliament

The Brits are finding out their crying need for free speech and private ownership of firearms.

“It’s the parliament you should write to.”

Oh believe me I’m going to write to Cameron too. If I can fish up an address for Blair I’ll write to him too, esp. since he’s a cath-o-leek now.

I’m going to write to Her Majesty in her role as the head of the C of E and just also because clearly Western Civ and our freedoms are under assualt. (Of course I’m not going to write a note like I had in my post, although my Irish Grandmother would want me to write just that!)

And I don’t know who they think they are fooling, this is because of the Muslims, not the atheists or any one else. That is what is so especially craven about it.

Of course, it could really easily be solved by every single even nominally Christian person in England wearing a cross to work tomorrow.

The fact that this hasn’t already happened most likely indicates that they may indeed be ready for the burkha, which is unfortunate.

I am not a religious nut, but it is hard not to recognise there is a big evil working in this world today.

If you believe in God must you believe in Lucifer. If so Lucifer is taking a big part in this battle for the world and we need God.

“A document seen by The Sunday Telegraph discloses that ministers will argue that because it is not a “requirement” of the Christian faith, “

so mussies can now kill non-mussies legally because it is a requirement of their pagan cult/faith?

The British are ripe for the Burka. They are a heathen society in respect to religion. I'm was raised a Christian in Tennessee, and have been living in England for 5 years. Sometimes (most times) I feel like my Christian upbringing, and values are worth less then nothing here. I have been openly mocked and ridiculed for having an imaginary friend that lives in the clouds. People here have lost their faith, the British don't believe in God for the most part, they believe in Darwin. Their Christian heritage is lost, and I can't see it returning. The Mosques are filling up, and the churches are emptying out.

“The Mosques are filling up, and the churches are emptying out.”

Truly it is scary.

Today I feel very discouraged, stories like this one (which I had heard about before, but was hoping it wasn’t true!), the sinking feeling I have the Romney will get the nomination and lose, just some of my own stuff.

But you know, I’ll never give up, I will really go down fighting.
