Yes, of course, presidents have no direct control over gas prices. But the American people know something about this president and his disdain for oil. The "fuel of the past," he contemptuously calls it. To the American worker who doesn't commute by government motorcade and is getting fleeced every week at the pump, oil seems very much a fuel of the present — and of the foreseeable future.
President Barack Obama incessantly claims energy open-mindedness, insisting that his policy is "all of the above." Except, of course, for drilling
• off the Mid-Atlantic coast (as Virginia, for example, wants),
• off the Florida Gulf Coast (instead, the Castro brothers will drill near there),
• in the broader Gulf of Mexico (where drilling in 2012 is expected to drop 30 percent below pre-moratorium forecasts),
• in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (more than half the size of England, the drilling footprint being the size of Dulles Airport),
• on federal lands in the Rockies (where leases are down 70 percent since Obama took office).
But the event that drove home the extent of Obama's antipathy to nearby, abundant, available oil was his veto of the Keystone pipeline. It gave the game away because the case for Keystone is so obvious and overwhelming. Vetoing it gratuitously prolongs our dependence on outside powers, kills thousands of shovel-ready jobs, forfeits a major strategic resource to China, damages relations with our closest ally, and sends billions of oil dollars to Hugo Chavez, Vladimir Putin and already obscenely wealthy sheiks.

Here we go again. Every time one of these threads about drilling for more oil pop up, the conservative columnist takes the cowardly low road. Upset about no drilling off of the Virginia and Florida coasts? Well gosh golly gee, perhaps one might want to direct their complaints to the GOP governors who have refused to allow said drilling. Folks like Jeb Bush bear alot of responsibility for our current predicament.
The day I think seaweed in the gas tank is a good idea, is the day a mermaid is sitting in my passenger seat.

a) One major reason (but not the only reason) for current oil prices is the declining value of the dollar - thanks to skyrocketing deficits starting when Pelosi and Reid’s budget first went into effect, and worsening as Obama pushed those deficits over a trillion dollars / year.
So in that sense, he has had some control over the current price of oil.
b) Speculation fuels price rises generated by Middle East instability; that speculation can be moderated or even reversed by policy that leads to the promise of increases in local supplies. Obama could put a damper on the portion of the oil premium we’re paying in speculation overnight if he’d open ANWR, back off the restrictions of Gulf drilling, open up leases on government land, and allow Keystone to be built. Of course he never will - and of course he can rely on trolls to make a lame-ass case that it’s Bush’s fault.
I don’t want ethanol in my vehicle screwing up everything, I sure don’t want seaweed.

Plus, I'm going to be pissed off if I have to get 'fuel' while wearing a 3-piece suit and nice shoes.....going to be messy as hell trying to shovel that crap into my car's fuel tank fill pipe. Will be even harder if the temperature is below freezing.
Yeah...just imagine that slimy stringy green crap. Would be like pouring a can of spinach into the carb.
I tried it already. Really clogged up the fuel injectors. I don't recommend it.
