No, we sold corn fritters and salt to make money for the school. I'm talking 1950's. In grammar school and high school, there was no such thing as school sponsored trips in this country or overseas for any students. Living in NY State, the only foreign country I traveled to was Canada, and that was after I had been married with two kids. I finally made my first trip to Europe when I was 58.
Parents Mr. and Mrs. oDUMBo acted "stupidly."
Easter Week in Paris & Rome for a class trip at age 13.
It was your typical European school trip:
Kids trying to hook-up and score booze
Adult married chaperones hooking up for real
A very unwashed French tour guide
The drunk tour bus driver
...and a late night escape from the hotel to a gay disco
Good times, good times....
