I am the lover of all animals, great and small, particularly the tasty ones ... but, cows are very dumb. When they get spooked, which they do quite often, there is hardly a fence in the land that will hold them. I have goats that get out less often than any of my rancher friends that raise cows, and goats are known as the Hoodinis of the barnyard. They don't really return affection in any detectable way, with the exception of running plumb over you if you are delivering food. That tends to hurt. :)

I always, from the 5th grade when we read Charlotte's Web, wanted a pig for a pet, UNTIL I saw what they can do to the yard with the incessant rooting up the lawn. That pretty much cured me of that little dream.

First fry some licorice, then make a rue?

Got it.

We have to stop allowing liberals to control the language. Language played a huge part in the rise of the 3rd Reich. They learned to demonize people and thought through words much like liberals call someone a racist to negate the opinion of the accused. Words change thinking.

Take “the separation of church and state”. No such separation exists in our constitution but the vast majority of Americans seem to think so. I make a point of using “Protection of church from state” because its a far more accurate term and it causes people to think and maybe even do a little research.

If you get a chance to read it, check out “The Language of the 3rd Reich” by Victor Klemperer

You know, you’re right. I’ve been a little arrogant in the past, while philosophizing on the whole man vs beast issue.

I’m glad for you that you made it out of those situations, though.

"Plenty of animals have canine teeth and are not meat eaters. I’m on your side, but teeth appearances mean nothing."

Could you please name several, 'cause I'm drawing a blank on that statement.

The New York Times has a position called an “ethicist?” Is that the same thing as an ombudsman?

These same people who don’t eat meat would kill the unborn in a Chicago second.

Fluke them.

I was once cornered in a pen by a blind cow. I cannot think of a more dangerous situation other than Obama being reelected.

As for the pigs, they view everything as food. If they can get you down to the level of their snout and keep you there, they WILL eat you.

The chickens are just scavengers and cannibals. You should see what happens when you toss a chicken egg into the air in a chicken pen. They try to kill each other to get to that broken egg.

They all need to be eaten if for no other reason than to keep them from evolving into something we cannot defend against.

Since when is the NYT concerned with ethics? How can they do so without touching religion?

I'm tempted to respond to one "Explain to me why it would be wrong for me to kill you and eat your flesh". Then disassemble his reasons while looking through my pockets for a ketchup packet.

Had early humanoids decided not to eat meat, the human race would not have developed into the technological beings they are today. Meat is far more dense, nutrition wise, than vegetation. So that’s why cows graze all day, lions only eat once or twice a week.

This gave the human species time to do other things...like invent the wheel, the automobile and MTV.

I’ll bet that question was foremost in the mind of Timothy Treadwell (the Grizzly Guy) just as the bear chomped down on his head.

“Tell us why it’s ethical to eat meat” -

It’s ethical to eat meat because . . . PETA doesn’t like for us to eat meat; and PETA needs aggravating on a regular basis.

and to an even greater degree vegans, their hard-core inner circle — have dominated the discussion about the ethics of eating.

Vegans! Aren't they the ones who eat only plants? Don't they realize that plants cannot defend themselves whereas animals can? So it's ok to eat a living plant just because it can't escape? That's nasty!
